Position Title: Development Office: Associate Vice President for Development

Department: 7030|Development Office

Responsibilities:
The Associate Vice President for Development reports to the Vice President for University Advancement and CEO of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Foundation and is responsible for the overall management and expansion of the University’s philanthropy programs. The AVP will lead through the development and implementation of strategic plans for increasing private support for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL Lafayette). This position is responsible for major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, corporate and foundation relations, as well as donor relations and stewardship for the university’s academic and athletics programs. The AVP must have a strong working knowledge of current and emerging best practices in all aspects of fundraising, ability to analysis data and process for decision making, and robust history of effective collaboration with leadership and colleagues across campus.

The AVP for Development will work closely with a variety of leaders and stakeholders including the President, Vice Presidents, Deans, Athletics Director, Board of Trustees for the UL Lafayette Foundation and Board of Directors for the Ragin’ Cajuns Athletic Foundation.

Responsibilities:

Leads the Development team in planning and implementing long and short-term strategies to identify, cultivate, secure and stewards gifts to the organization.
Works with the VP and other stakeholders to establish measurable goals to increase fundraising results that are both aspirational and achievable.
Leads the successful completion of the University’s comprehensive campaign
Identifies staffing priorities and effectively hires, onboards, manages, and evaluates to produce a highly effective team.
Promotes a deep culture of collaboration across campus that fosters increased philanthropic support.
Manages a portfolio of prospects. Identifies, engages, and solicits donors for the purpose of securing gifts for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Plans, coordinates and implements ongoing major gift activities on behalf of the University in order to increase the number and size of gifts.
Build a sustainable pipeline of donors for the university's major gift fundraising program.
Sets direction and gives guidance to stewardship program to recognize donors in effective and meaningful ways.
Establishes and adheres to annual operating budgets and ensures that development programs are operating in a fiscally prudent and productive way.
Plans and manage events for major gift donors when appropriate, and other duties as assigned.
Coordinates strategic direction for development communications efforts to elevate alumni and donor knowledge of the impact of philanthropy and ways to give.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree preferred.
Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of development experience in a college or university setting.
Experience leading University capital campaigns.
Proven track record of achieving annual fundraising goals.
Proven management and leadership capabilities.
High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative.
Excellent management skills, oral and written communications skills, and strong organizational skills are required; as well as strong professional ethics and personal integrity.
The ability and willingness to travel and a good driving record are essential.
The incumbent should have knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to navigate and contribute to strategic decisions about the alumni and donor database.
The AVP for Development may be required to travel with night and weekend work required
