Job Description and Duties
Under the general supervision of the General Counsel and direct supervision of the Regional Director, the incumbent acts as the investigating and prosecuting attorney in legal matters involving complex, difficult, and sensitive unfair labor practices of the Agricultural Labor Relations Act.

Special Requirements
- The position requires fluency in the Spanish language. If the State of California does not have a current record documenting your fluency in this language, you will be required to successfully pass an approved language fluency test prior to being hired.

Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Experience working with low-wage immigrant populations.
- Familiarity with issues faced by farmworkers and the agricultural industry.
- Knowledge of scope and character of California statutory law and of the provisions of the California Constitution and provisions of laws and Government Code sections administered or enforced.
- Knowledge of principles of administrative and constitutional law; trial and hearing procedures; and rules of evidence; court procedures.
- Knowledge of administrative law and the conduct of proceedings before administrative bodies; legal terms and forms in common use; statutory and case law literature and authorities.
- Knowledge of legal research methods and performing research; legal principles and their application.
- Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; prepare and present statements of fact, law, and argument clearly and logically in written and oral form.
- Ability to draft opinions, pleadings, rulings, regulations, and legislation; negotiate effectively and conduct crucial litigation.
- Ability to prepare correspondence involving the explanation of legal matters; research; analyze, appraise, and apply legal principles, facts, and precedents to legal problems; work cooperatively with a variety of individuals, organizations and maintain the confidence and respect of others.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
