Job description

Connell Foley LLP is seeking attorneys with two (2) to three (3) years of experience handling cybersecurity, privacy and incident response issues to join its fast growing team. Privacy professional certification preferred but not required. Qualified candidates should demonstrate knowledge in cybersecurity, privacy and incident response issues through their work experience, public speaking/writing, credentials and/or advanced certificates or degrees in cybersecurity.

The ideal candidate should have experience in the following areas:

• Investigating and counseling on responses to data breaches;
• Data breach response investigation; In-depth knowledge of key regulatory and security framework (including CCPA/CPRA, PCI-DSS, GLBA, HIPAA, and GDPR);
• Managing privacy compliance program development and implementation;
• Negotiating complex information technology, licensing and outsourcing contacts, including key risk allocation issues such as indemnification and limitation on liability;
• Advising clients in all industries on a wide variety of privacy and data security matters;
• Advising on data governance strategies (retention, use policies, inventories, mapping);
• Addressing privacy and cybersecurity issues in M&A transactions;
• Drafting company privacy and security policies.

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

• JD from an ABA accredited law school with excellent academic credentials;
• Ability and desire to learn and embrace new skills and best practices as the position and substantive area evolves;
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
• Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team;
• Ability to develop new relationships and foster teamwork at all levels;
• Excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving and oral and written communication skills;
• Ability to manage confidential information and sensitive situations with tact and discretion.
