Join our Weatherization team to help local, low-income households drastically reduce their electric and gas bills! The Weatherization Auditor will perform energy audits and home assessments while using software to determine cost-effective weatherization measures to improve the home's efficiency. Weatherization Auditors will attain required training through on-site training, class courses, and training conferences.

There are multiple openings for this position. This position is a 10 hour work day, 4 days a week; Monday-Thursday.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's Degree in related field, or certification from a 2-year College or Technical School plus work, military, or volunteer experience.

  • One year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Understanding of basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office, internet searches, timesheets and emai

  • General knowledge of construction codes, tools, materials and procedures.

  • Ability to perform general construction repairs.

  • Proficiencies in measurements, math, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC desirable.

  • Experience and ability to operate a variety of power/hand tools and testing devices.

  • Effective communication skills required. Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Russian helpful but not required.

  • Ability to think critically with strong problem-solving skills.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Driver qualifications are required for this position. Must have valid driver's license, insured vehicle available for use on the job, and satisfactory drive record for the previous five years.

  • Candidate must pass a pre-employment respirator fit test, pre-employment drug screen, and physical examination.

  • Candidate must comply with the COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination Policy.

  • Candidate with Building Performance Institute certifications preferred but not required.

  • Candidate must pass a comprehensive MWVCAA background screening prior to employment.

  • New Hires must obtain required certifications within 1 year of hire.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.

  • Performs field inspections of low-income residences to identify energy conservation measures.

  • Determines the energy conservation measures and cost effectiveness using approved building model software.

  • Writes complete and succinct instructions for contractors and technicians to complete scope of work.

  • Interpret and apply program rules, regulations, specifications and contracts, monitor contractor compliance by maintaining current knowledge of OHCS, Agency, and DOE requirements and specifications.

EQUIPMENT USED

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee may use a computer; combustion analyzer; blower door; hand tools, power tools, digital camera, duct blaster, phone, other electronics and tools to accomplish job duties.
    • Employee may be required to use personal protective equipment such as protective eyewear and protective clothing and/or other PPE necessary for the job.

  • Required to frequently reach with hands and arms; regularly required to climb or balance; occasionally required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must have the ability to kneel, crouch or crawl in crawl and attic spaces.

  • Manual dexterity for handling equipment.

  • Regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, distance vision, close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Handles pressures of frequent demands for attention and time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Indoor and outdoor work environment with frequent interruptions and demands.

  • Exposure to trash and potential biohazards.

  • Potential risk of exposure to COVID-19 and other conditions. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as face coverings may be required. Respirator mask use is required for some duties.

  • COVID-19 Alert: This position includes performing essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic and potential exposure to others who may be infected with the virus. I understand that if I receive a positive test, I will report it to HR at HR-COVID@mwvcaa.org and my supervisor and wait to be released back to work by HR. I also understand that I must use available PPE and practice social distancing whenever possible according to agency policies.
