The Accountant II position is a classified position in the Accounting Department of Business Services that will report to the Accounting Manager. The Accountant II is a position that will performing duties regarding A/R and A/P functions, payroll liabilities and payroll tax reporting. This position supervises the Accounts Payable Accounting Technician.
Job Duties:
- Provide Accounting Support for AHEC units related to accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R).
- Review account coding such as fund, cost center, object, activity code, and encumbrance number etc. to ensure its conformity with agency approved coding.
- Reviews and posts documents for Accounting.
- Processes the payroll liabilities for the department.
- Decides the timing and method of payments.
- Processes the accounts to the AHEC Collections vendor.
- Maintain and reconcile various accounts.
- Retrieve reports form financial systems and review and correct discrepancies.
- Determine when a procedure needs to be updated based on system changes or AHEC Fiscal Rule changes.
- Supervise employees in the operation of the Accounting unit of AHEC to ensure the objectives of the unit are met.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in accounting.
- Two years of professional accounting experience.
Substitutions:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution which included 27 semester hours of accounting or auditing coursework will substitute for the degree requirement.
- Additional appropriate experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Current, valid licensure as a CPA by the Colorado Board of Accountancy will substitute for the degree requirement and two years of the professional accounting experience.
- Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- All positions with AHEC require a background check. YOU MUST submit to and successfully complete a pre-employment background check as a condition of hire. Felony convictions or conviction of crimes of moral turpitude or convictions of misdemeanors related to job duties may disqualify you from consideration for this position. Submission of your application provides AHEC authorization to run a background check.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
