Automotive Service Technician – Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Service Technician to perform speedy and accurate repairs, maintenance, and diagnosis to vehicles while maintaining cleanliness, efficiency, team support, and ongoing training. Previous Technician experience in an automotive dealership is preferred. Requires knowledge of repair and functions of automotive parts and systems.

Automotive Service Technician Responsibilities:

• Perform and document all maintenance and repair work with efficiency and accuracy on customer’s vehicles and dealership inventory vehicles
• Test and diagnose vehicle malfunctions and concerns with efficiency and accuracy
• Perform multi-point inspections and make recommendations as to which services and repairs are needed to make vehicles safe and completely operational
• Maintain flexibility for when job priorities shift, such as; emergencies, workload, rush jobs or technology developments
• Safely road test vehicles as required
• Comply with dealership and factory standards
• Ensure top quality repairs to minimize comebacks.
• Maintain high levels of Technician efficiency regarding clocked hours vs. flagged hours
• Communicate with Service Advisors to recommend additional safety or service work, adjust repair orders, or if a repair cannot be completed by the promised time
• Communicate with parts department to quote and receive parts required
• Retain and tag defective warranty parts
• Continued advancement of knowledge and education by maintaining brand certifications, training courses, studying technical bulletins, and willingness to learn from daily experiences
• May require interaction with clients to explain difficult diagnoses or technical repairs
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workplace
• Keep professional appearance and provide friendly customer service
• Assist fellow technicians and other team members
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety, and environmental rules

Automotive Service Technician Qualifications

• Automotive dealership Technician experience
• Owns basic and advanced hand tools, power tools, air tools, and diagnostic tools
• Working knowledge of shop equipment
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• ASE certification is a plus
• Some heavy lifting, team lifting.
• Have strong organizational, multitasking and time management skills.
• Detail-oriented and great communication skills
• Maintain professional appearance
• Maintain professional attitude
• Dependable and arrives on time
• Follow oral and written instructions with attention to details
• Strong work ethic
• Supportive team member
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Rotating weekends
• Weekend availability
