AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN

Einspahr Auto Plaza is looking for full-time Automotive Technicians of all skill levels to join our team.

Experience and Training with Ford or Chrysler vehicles is a positive but not necessary. Strong basic automotive repair skills are a must. We provide the needed training required by our manufacturers (Ford and Chrysler) along with setting up a continual training program to advance the skills of our technicians. Hours for this job are Monday through Friday from 7:30AM-5:30PM and every third Saturday from 7:30AM-Noon.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Reports to: SERVICE MANAGER

SUMMARY:

The Service Technician is responsible for performing vehicle and repair and maintenance work as assigned in accordance with dealer and factory standards. He or she will also oversee the work of any apprentice technician assigned to him/her.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Exhibit proper attitude at all times to help maintain proper CSI levels.

Receive repair orders from dispatcher and take to stall area.

Perform work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealer ship and factory standards.

Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair.

Advise the service advisor immediately if any additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.

Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.

Save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer.

Examine the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.

Document the three C’s and work performed.

Road-test vehicles when required or refer to the service advisor when assistance is needed, keeping in mind that customer’s vehicles should not be used for personal errands.

Use all safety equipment provided to prevent injuries.

Use recycling equipment where appropriate or required.

Assist in running vehicles in and out of shop when advisors and porters need assistance.

Supervise work of any apprentice technician as assigned.

Attend factory-sponsored training classes and complete certification requirements as requested and required.

Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins.

Ensure that customers' cars are kept clean. No smoking or eating in any customer’s car. Report any accidents, dents, stains, or rips to management immediately.

Keep shop area neat and clean.

Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.

Clean and return all special tools to the tool room.

Report any safety issues, machinery defects or

Malfunctions to management immediately.

Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes, OSHA, etc.

Road-test new vehicles to quality-check work performed on pre-delivery and check all accessories to ensure all are operational. This is a most important step to ensure proper CSI levels. Also check for any damage.

MARGINAL DUTIES: Others that may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent. ASE Certification and Vo-Tech degree preferred. General mechanical skills. Ability to read and understand detailed instructions, technical information & diagrams. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. WORKING CONDITIONS:

The Technician will stand six to eight hours per shift, lift parts weighing up to 40 pounds several times during each shift, and use hoist and test equipment as needed. Will be required to use all applicable safety equipment. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, handle and drive. Will use hand and power tools. Will be exposed to noise, dust, vibration, fumes (e.g. exhaust, paint, or chemicals), extreme hot or cold temperatures, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials. Road-testing of vehicles will be required. The Technician will be required to wear a dealership uniform at all times.
