The Arch at 550 Madison Avenue is a private club level and amenity space serving this prestige office building’s corporate clients. It is the heart of the building and a place where fine quality hospitality meet comfort and contemporary design. The space encompasses a 40 seat café, an espresso and wine bar, and nine separate private dining and conference rooms, including a library, screening room, billiards room and chef’s table with dedicated kitchen. 550 Madison Avenue, located in Midtown Manhattan, is NYC’s only landmarked building to achieve LEED Platinum Certification, a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement.

Great Performances operates the Club Level Amenity Space at 550 Madison Avenue. This woman owned business serving New York City for over 40 years is renowned for events catering as well as food service in celebrated New York City cultural institutions, including Jazz at Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Apollo Theater and others. Great Performances is the nation’s first caterer to own and operate its own organic farm, Katchkie Farm, located in Kinderhook, NY. Focus

Join our management team and grow within the company as you develop and implement a beverage program including fine quality wines, spirits, cocktails and non-alcoholic selections. Train your team in beverage product knowledge and fine dining beverage service standards, while maintaining beverage cost targests and best purchasing, receiving, storge and inventory practices.

Responsibilities

• Create wine, spirits and cocktail menus
• Train staff in fine dining beverage service standards
• Purchase, stock, and inventory alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
• Maintain beverage purchasing budget and costs as directed by management
• Perform administrative and reporting tasks in a timely manner
• Maintain beverage related compliance standards
• Foster a climate of cooperation and respect among all team members

Qualifications

• At least two years experience in a beverage related management role with responsibility for beverage costs and inventory
• At least two years fine dining experience
• In depth wine, spirits and cocktail knowledge
• Computer skills required to fulfil management functions, including POS systems operation, MS Word and Excel
• Excellent written and spoken and communications skills
• Self-motivated and initiative driven with leadership ability
• Welcoming and polite manner, neat and professional appearance
• Handles the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities
• Determines appropriate solutions to common food and beverage service problems
• Knowledge of NYC Department of Health standards
• Food Handler's Certificate a plus
• TIPS Certified
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for at least 8 hours
