Operates strander to strand conductors, forming cable units or cores. Bind core with yarn, unit binders, and wraps core with Mylar tape as required. Strands to comply with core length, and size in accordance with F.O. and engineered drawings.Sets up unit closer and pair strander's to cable units or cores, in accordance with engineered drawings. Floods cable with ETPR, PE/PJ grease to force air out and water proof the cable as required. Loads tape supply. Loads binder heads and changes binder colors as necessary. Loads core reels and pulls through cage. Loads supply reels, ties new supply to previous run or uses a pull-through rope. Continues pull through, attaches binders, tapes, etc., and changes dies as necessary; and changes take-up reel.
Strips core ends and attaches to take-up reel, ground or connects conductors to take-up shaft, tapes up end on the reel, as required. Monitor cable at all time during run and supplies as necessary; adjust brakes, binder heads, and take-up reel speeds, and monitors quality.
Unloads finished reels and properly tags. Fills out production reports and scheduling information accurately and legibly. Performs minor maintenance such as brake bands, etc. Possesses knowledge of how to operate grease apparatus. Cleans work area as required. Cleans tooling and return it to its proper positions. Unloads empty payoff reels.
