The Southwest YMCA is looking for individuals who care about making an impact in our community by supporting children. The preferred candidate would be nurturing and energetic. The Part-time Y-Base position is a front line role that ensures the misson of the YMCA is embodied through our New Berlin School Before and After school enrichment programs (Y B.A.S.E).

Y-Base provides a safe and fun environment for children to grow. The program engages children through research-based core components: Tutoring & Mentoring, Arts Education, Leadership Development, Global Awareness & Inclusion, Health & Wellness, and Service Learning. Each child will be guided to develop at his or her own unique rate by encouraging skill development and frequent leadership opportunities.

Under the direction of the Y BASE Director, and in accordance with the Association policies set forth by the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County, the Y BASE Site Supervisor will be responsible for the guidance and direction of the Y BASE Before and After School Engagement Program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be at least 18 years of age.

2. Must meet all Child Care Licensing requirement including one of the following: One course in early childhood education, for credit or not for credit, (or complete that training within six months after assuming the position-The YMCA can provide training equivalencies to meet the requirements); certificate from an assistant childcare teacher training program approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction; or otherwise qualified as an Assistant Teacher through The Wisconsin Child Care Registry.

3. Must be able willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, Abusive Head Trauma, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (if applicable) and Wisconsin Child Care Registry certification.

4. Prior experience in a licensed early learning program is preferred.

5. Must have a sincere interest and ability to comprehend needs and develop positive outcomes in children from diverse populations.

6. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.

7. Must also be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs and work indoors and outdoors; must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children; see and hear well enough to keep children safe; and engage in physical activity with children.

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
