Pacific Clinics serves children, transitional age youth, families, adults, and older adults. We offer a full range of mental and behavioral health services, foster care and social services, housing, continuing adult education and early childhood education programs to Medi-Cal eligible individuals and families throughout Alameda, Contra Costa, Fresno, Kings, Los Angeles, Madera, Orange, Placer, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Solano, Stanislaus, Stockton, Tulare and Ventura Counties.

Title: Behavior Specialist II

Job Summary

Works within the vision, mission, and philosophy of the agency. Under direct supervision, is responsible for developing and implementing positive behavior supports and intervention strategies at an advanced level to address significant behavioral problems for children and their families/caregivers in a variety of environments. Works collaboratively with others on the clinical team. Works independently in the family’s home or a variety of community and/or treatment settings. Works directly with youth and adults.

Essential Duties

1. Demonstrates mastery of the Behavior Specialist I position.

2. Engages and supervises individuals and groups of youth at an advanced level.

3. Creates, develops, and implements functionally relevant strategies that build on strengths and supports new interests.

4. Acquires, monitors, and evaluates information to provide effective feedback to family teams regarding function of behavior and relevant interventions as well as coaching and development of implementation modifications as necessary.

5. Supports caregivers, child and natural supports to identify, learn and access self care strategies as well as skills associated with the implementation of environmental accommodations and behavior management techniques.

6. Provides leadership to develop program responses to needs identified across a number of children and families where natural community resources are not available or appropriate.

7. Assumes leadership and increases participation of others in of work groups, committees and team meetings.

8. Takes initiative to identify and resolve conflicts and recognizes strength in the diversity of families and teams.

9. Initiates, organizes, and facilitates projects and activities as well as models effective prioritization of work tasks.

10. Employee is required to meet applicable productivity and documentation requirements

OTHER DUTIES

11. Driving to appointments with clients and their families or other key contacts

12. Physical interactions with children of variable ages such as, but not limited to, games, sports and other activities

Qualifications

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree (BA/ BS) in Psychology, Sociology, Behavioral Science, Education or related field required.

Experience Requirements

Two (2) years' experience working with children in mental health or education field and their families required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's Degree (MA) in a mental health related field AND two (2) years related experience in a metal health setting preferred OR Bachelor's Degree (BA) in a mental health related field AND four (4) years related experience in a mental health setting preferred.

HIGHLY DESIREABLE QUALIFICATION

Speak, read, and/or write another language preferred.

Other Specific Requirements

  • Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Child Abuse Index Check (CAIC) background clearance.
  • Valid California Driver's license with two years experience driving and clean driving record may be required.
