The role you’ll contribute:

The Behavioral Health Technician works under the supervision of the professional nursing staff in performing specific duties for patients that pose a behavior challenge. Such patients include include but not limited to Baker Act patients or patients from group home setting. The Behavior Tech actively participates in direct observation of such patients by utilizing customer service skills and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. The Behavioral Tech will be supported by code gray response in any situation that involves a patient with escalating behavior.

  • Performs 15-minute checks on assigned patients focusing on behavior and appearance.
  • Reports patient status, abnormal problems, and behavioral changes to RN and under the direction of an RN performs defined basic nursing procedures per hospital P&P and behavioral health Standards of Care.
  • Performs properly and legibly documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policy.
  • Assists in identifying needs and developing/modifying plan of care.
  • Recognizes potential escalation of behavior and has ability to use appropriate verbal and physical interventions.
Qualifications


The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Adequate knowledge of activities of daily living
  • Customer service skills.
  • Organizational ability, sound judgment and initiative.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorder and behavioral health terminology with various treatment approaches.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or (GED) equivalent
  • Experience with individuals that have behavioral health or substance use disorders
