JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW

The Benefits Informatics Associate is responsible for developing and interpreting medical and clinical data to support client retention and deliver an outstanding client experience. The position utilizes medical data repositories to analyze and pinpoint cost drivers, healthcare trends, develop KPI’s and utilizations for large clients. This position will be responsible for compiling and reconciling clinical and medical data from various sources, summarizing the results and reporting on findings. The ability to analyze data and provide recommendations is critical.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support quarterly analysis and recommendations for client re-pricing actions, producing and reviewing utilizations and Key Performance Health Indicators (KPHIs) using the healthcare database
  • Compile claims and premium information, summarize results and provide insight relative to client experience
  • Create queries using a variety of database applications, primarily from the Benefits Science Technologies (BST) database
  • Design, analyze and communicate findings for ad hoc requests including healthcare trends and drivers of client experience with minimal guidance
  • Perform business analysis, integrate, cleanse, summarize and correlate healthcare data
  • Proactively identify data discrepancies and resolve with minimal direction
  • Acquire proficiency to conduct data analysis using basic skills in statistics and database management
  • Develop an understanding of all relevant fields within the healthcare analytics database to create and analyze monthly and ad-hoc reports as requested
  • Convert data into functional formats, reconcile and identify data anomalies
  • Able to leverage queries using a variety of database applications, primarily from the BST database
  • Implement process improvements to existing procedures and address ad-hoc requests.
  • Manage deliverables to meet time and resource budgets for prompt delivery.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the manager’s discretion.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, math or other business-related areas having strong quantitative and analytical analysis or equivalent combination of education and experience desired

Experience:

  • Minimum 1- 2 years’ experience in analytics

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Demonstrate logical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to identify, analyze, evaluate, and interpret information
  • Knowledge of medical utilization data such as Acute and Chronic conditions
  • Strong financial and problem-solving skills
  • Report writing, data mining and analytical interpretation
  • Navigate various databases, understand the schema, meaning of various table and column definitions
  • Knowledge of Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) tools such as Tableau
  • Ability to learn and understand PeopleSoft, SalesForce, and healthcare analytics database.
  • Robust presentation and facilitation skills
  • Strong oral and written communication/interpersonal skills to communicate with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to a fast paced continually changing business and work environment while managing multiple priorities
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
