BASIC PURPOSE: Administer and plan the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs for the company. Participate in the investigation and resolution of complex, non-routine problems; serve as primary liaison with benefits providers in the resolution of specific team member concerns. Make recommendations on the improvement of existing benefits programs, monitor benefits administration, provide customer service for internal and external customers. Provide analytical and technical support in the delivery of benefits programs.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the plan administration for the NCLC 401(k) and Shipboard Pension plans including creating and transmitting 401(k) payroll files, updating contribution changes, processing enrollments, loans, and withdrawals, and the processing of Pension plan participant fees.
- Work with 401(k) Plan and Shipboard Pension Plan record keepers and investment advisors to address employee concerns and questions.
- Administer and provide counseling and assistance to team members at all levels of benefit programs and policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with Section 125, ADA, ERISA, FSA, COBRA, HIPPA, PPACA, as well as other applicable state, federal, and international benefit laws. Follow policies and procedures that support the organizational and business goals.
- Develop communication tools to enhance the understanding of the companys' benefits package such as design and distribute online self-service manuals and other essential materials for benefit orientations, open enrollment, provide summary plan descriptions (SPD), and departmental policies for Shoreside and Shipboard Benefits.
- Ensure the Benefits section of the Human Resources portion of the companys' Intranet is maintained to provide access to a self-service suite of benefits information to team members.
- Participate in the review and development of department operating procedures including automated systems and administrative procedures for assigned benefit processes.
- Coordinate with Payroll or Accounting the payment of benefit deduction adjustments and the collection of team member benefits contributions as needed.
- Conduct plan audits and participant listings to ensure proper and information is on file with carriers.
- Assist in the management of the benefit plan renewal process. Work with health insurance carriers and management to develop benefit implementation strategies and plans.
- Participate in planning and coordinating the implementation of annual benefits open enrollment programs for all team members, including the development of content materials. Conduct training as necessary.
- Assist with administering 401(k) regulatory compliance items such as annual Plan Audit, 5500 filing, true-up match contributions, and Non-Discrimination testing.
- Plan and coordinate 401(k) education meetings. Coordinate with plan advisor to design and distribute materials for meetings.
- Coordinate the implementation of new carriers and products, as it relates to setup, system input and output/fulfillment. Assist in the development and implementation of benefit business processes and rules.
- Participate in the development of long-range objectives regarding benefit programs in conjunction with the benefits team.
- Perform other job-related functions as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or related field of study; or any relevant equivalent work experience, training, skills and/or certifications.
EXPERIENCE: 3 - 5 years of progressive Human resources experience preferably in the field of benefits administration.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Familiar with ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, PPACA and other benefit laws and regulations. Good analytical skills and attention to detail is required. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are required to deal effectively with all levels of employees. Must be sensitive to employee needs while ensuring benefit programs are administered in a consistent and equitable manner and according to contracts and benefit regulations. Knowledge of other human resources functions is helpful in communicating, applying and interpreting benefit programs. Must be computer literate and possess knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Adobe. Knowledge and experience with PeopleSoft is preferred.
