POSITION: DERMATOLOGY BILLING/CODING CLERK

DEPARTMENT: BILLING/GENERAL OFFICE

REPORTS TO: OFFICE MANAGER/OWNER

EDUCATION: HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA

EXPERIENCE: At least 1-year experience in medical billing and coding required,

1-year experience in Dermatology billing/coding preferred but will train upon hire

JOB SUMMARY: This position requires an experienced Medical Biller that has a strong background in medical billing and coding. The employee will work on a number of tasks requiring data analysis, in-depth evaluation and exercising judgement within the area of dermatology. This position requires careful attention to detail and sitting for extended periods of time.

Skills required:

• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to submit billing data to insurance providers
• Work claims and claim denials to ensure maximum reimbursement for services provided
• Prepare, review, and transmit claims including electronic and paper claim processing
• Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe
• Check insurance payments for accuracy and compliance with contract discounts
• Call insurance companies regarding payment discrepancies
• Research and appeal denied claims
• Post insurance and patient payments
• Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances
