Monday thru Friday, 8am - 4:40pm

Job Objective:

The Biomedical Technician works independently overseeing the maintenance and inspection of all medical equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tests and repairs biomedical equipment and makes sure all new and repaired instruments are properly inspected before they are put into service
  • Provides effective routine periodic inspections of equipment, preventive maintenance, and calibration of biomedical equipment
  • Makes scheduled inspections and tests necessary to maintain conformance to code requirements and documents this activity
  • Provides emergency service for biomedical equipment

Non-Essential Duties:

  • Maintains and updates the inventory of biomedical equipment
  • Maintains a reasonable perpetual inventory of replacement parts and standby equipment to minimize delay in service
  • Recommends the replacement and acquisition of test instruments and equipment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the practices and procedures, methods, tools, and materials used in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment
  • Knowledge of types of medical equipment available and the supply procedures for acquisition

Skills

  • Skilled in interpreting wiring diagrams, schematic drawings and service manuals.
  • Skilled in diagnosing and analyzing medical equipment problems.
  • Skilled in the use of test equipment, tools, and materials involved in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment.

Abilities

  • Ability to work effectively with others
  • Ability to effectively plan, prioritizes, and organizes work.
  • Ability to read and write English and technical manuals at equivalent of high school graduate level

Education and Experience:

Education

  • Completion of college level study in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering or electronic related field desired.

Experience

  • 2 years minimum experience in hospital setting as a Biomedical/Clinical technician desired.

Required Licensure and/or Certifications:

  • CBET desired

Key Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Work performed in hospital environment requiring frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting and reaching.
  • Work often in tight conditions
  • Frequently lifting up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs and above.
  • Occasionally pushing/pulling 50 lbs. and above.
  • Work from ladders
  • Work around Biohazard material
