Job description
The Bond Investigator will perform professional, investigative work and provide quality and timely information to the criminal courts, which supports the judicial decision to release a defendant on a Personal Bond.
- Investigates and interviews inmates/defendants arrested on local and state offenses who are detained in the Smith County Jail for felony and misdemeanor offenses.
- Completes background check to determine inmates social stability factors.
- Determines an inmate indigent status.
- Reviews inmates criminal history and inmate file folder for conduct while in custody.
- Complete paperwork and put a folder together on those individuals and present it to the appropriate court and judge.
- Attends arraignment in District and County Courts.
- Answer phone calls dealing with clients and families.
- Monitoring clients weekly check-ins and insuring clients are complying with bond conditions and court appearances.
- Must be able to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Must Multitask
- Able to handle multiple clients and folders at any given time.
- Able to deal with inmates inside a jail facility in a professional manner.
- Have legible handwriting
- Basic Computer Skills
