Counterpart is looking for a Bookkeeper/Accountant to join our finance team. Reporting to our Finance Manager, this position will be responsible for the daily bookkeeping and accounting functions of the agency, while providing analysis of financial data and maintaining financial compliance. This role will maintain and execute a variety of financial procedures including – but not limited to – month-end and year-end closings, accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, vendor management, expense budgeting, and payroll.

Job duties and responsibilities:

· Implements and maintains full cycle accounting best practices

· Monitors daily inbound/outbound transactions

· Enters accounts payable & prepares weekly check run

· Enters client payments and monitors AR collections

· Payroll administrator and performs semi-monthly payroll processing

· Handles vendor correspondence and vendor management

· Maintains worker comp policies and handles workers comp audits

· Investigates and resolves problems associated with AP & AR

· Monitors and reviews accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness

· Prepares monthly bank and account reconciliations

· Performs data entry and file maintenance for accounting team

· Assists with month-end and year-end accounting close

· Reviews and reconciles online credit card account and monthly credit card expenses

· Analyzes general ledger accounts with the ability to spot trends and anomalies

· Assists with annual budgeting

· Prepares journal entries as needed

· Prepares annual 1099’s

· Ad hoc research, reporting, analysis, and other initiatives, as assigned

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, related field, or equivalent job experience.

Work experience: 5 years of relevant work experience who is well versed in accounting principles with an understanding of all aspects of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll tax and payroll processing.

Required skills or competencies:

· Prior experience in payroll required

· Highly proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced in Microsoft Excel

· Excellent analytical skills, written, and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities

· Knowledge of Workamajig or similar software is a plus
