Ascendo Resources is actively seeking a Senior Accountant on an immediate, full-time, on-site basis!Our client, a growing luxury retail company is in Brooklyn!

Hours: Mon - Fri (9am - 6pm) (40-hour work week) 100% on-site

Salary: $80,000 - $90,000/year

The Senior Accountant is a crucial position within the organization, responsible for overseeing and performing various financial, accounting, administrative, and payroll functions. They report to the Vice President and the Corporate CFO, and their role is hands-on, requiring active involvement in day-to-day operations. This is a standalone role and will be responsible for invoicing to financial reporting. Here are the areas of responsibility and required skills and knowledge for this role:

Finance:

• Perform month/quarter/year-end closing activities: The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely completion of closing procedures at the end of each accounting period.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements: They prepare the necessary financial reports to provide insights into the company's financial performance.
• Prepare monthly reports for Sales, Gross margin, Inventory, and Accounts Receivable: The Senior Accountant generates reports on sales, gross margin, inventory levels, and accounts receivable to monitor and analyze financial data.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget: They support the budgeting process by gathering relevant financial information and assisting in the creation of the annual budget.
• Prepare/process bi-weekly payroll, record payroll entries, and maintain employee files: The Senior Accountant manages the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payments and maintaining relevant payroll records.
• Prepare monthly sales commission reports: They calculate and prepare reports on sales commissions for the sales team, ensuring accurate and timely compensation calculations.
• Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable activity: The Senior Accountant oversees the company's accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, ensuring timely payments and collections.
• Prepare monthly GL account postings/accruals and reconciliations: They handle the general ledger accounting, including posting journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and managing accruals.
• Prepare bank reconciliation on a monthly basis: The Senior Accountant reconciles bank statements with the company's financial records to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
• Post cash receipts to customer accounts and record deposits to Sales Orders: They record cash receipts from customers and reconcile them with the corresponding sales orders.

Skills and Knowledge:

• 3+ years of experience in a similar role: The Senior Accountant should have a substantial background in accounting and financial management.
• Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to work independently: They must possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work autonomously.
• Construction and retail industry experience is an asset: Familiarity with the specific requirements and nuances of the construction and retail industries is beneficial.
• Full cycle accounting: The Senior Accountant should have comprehensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of the accounting cycle.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel: Proficiency in Excel is essential for data analysis, reporting, and financial modeling.
