The Greysmith Companies is hiring an experienced bookkeeper or accounting coordinator. This is an in-office position located in Providence, RI. Interested candidates should have 2-4 years of experience processing payables, receivables and multi-state payroll and working knowledge of payroll best practices.

Responsibilities of the Bookkeeper

  • Perform daily payroll department operations.
  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
  • Understand proper taxation of employer-paid benefits.
  • Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance.
  • Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W-2, W-2c, etc).
  • Process manual check and relocation metrics.
  • Process new hire onboarding paperwork and pre-employment screening.
  • Process company invoicing associated with payroll activities each week.

Requirements of the Bookkeeper

  • High School Diploma
  • 2-4 years of experience processing multi-state payroll
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in MS Office
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel
  • Strong work ethic and team player
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with various levels of management
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
