We are seeking to hire for a Box Mezz Lead position at our manufacturing plant site in Bessemer City, North Carolina to work on 2nd Shift. This position is responsible for the daily set up and operation of box machines to ensure the appropriate box is made and the production lines operate without delay.

2nd Shift: Monday through Saturday 4:00pm-Close | $16.45/hr. - $24.08/hr.

• Close time for 2nd shift can vary from 12:00am-3:00am.

This position will require a passing drug screen with negative results.

• Leads and directs between 50-60 hourly employees
• Assure paperwork is complete, correct, and timely
• Follow schedule sequence, ensuring on-time starts and efficient changeovers
• Monitor changeover and machine downtime
• Communicate with packaging to determine required changeovers and replenishments
• Operate box making machinery and supply with flat stock
• Transport pallets of box stock with pallet jack
• Achieve schedule attainment within prescribed standards
• Achieve accuracy on harvest estimate
• Monitor breaks and lunches
• Train employees to meet operating procedures
• Assure employees are meeting standards
• Conduct tailgates and lead exercise routines at shift start each day
• Any and all other duties assigned by your Supervisor

• SKILLS: Must have good communication and computer skills. Must be a self-starter and possess initiative. Must be able to lead and direct.

• ADDITIONAL: Hands-on ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented food processing environment. Required to work independently and with limited supervision. Must be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/ procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is performed in a cold environment with an average temperature of 34 degrees Fahrenheit. Concentrated chlorine and concealed ammonia is present. Work surfaces and floors may be wet. Employees are required to wear approved shoes and protective equipment. Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs. unassisted up to 1/3 of the workday, and 6 lbs. overhead as job demands. Constant standing on a concrete floor, reaching, bending, stooping, and repetitive hand movements may be required. Moving machinery, including conveyor and forklifts are in operation in the immediate area.

• Knowledge of production processes is required. Previous experience in a food processing facility is desired.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Must have HS Diploma, GED, or demonstrated ability to perform required tasks.
