Building Assessment Architect

Bureau Veritas is seeking a Registered Architect with Facility Assessment experience to join our team in Nevada, Arizona, Utah, or California.

As a Facility Assessor Architect.........

  • You will apply your knowledge of building condition assessment processes and technical standards in performing building evaluations inclusive of but not limited to Facility Condition Assessments (FCA), space planning, energy audits, accessibility assessments, mechanical equipment evaluations, and other technical services associated with capital planning of commercial, institutional, and/or municipal facilities.
  • Utilize building condition assessment processes and technical standards in conducting asset assessments for the purpose of identifying asset conditions and deficiencies for a variety of buildings.

A Snapshot of Your Day with Bureau Veritas:

  • · Conduct client facing on-site inspections and building condition assessments using mobile inspection software on an iPad.
  • · Conduct a walk-through building survey of the accessible and visible major building systems (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing), structure and foundations, representative interiors, common areas, exterior walls, windows, flat roofs, low-sloped roofs, pavement, etc.
  • · Provide photographic documentation of site and building features and document observations.
  • · Determine the condition and remaining useful life of building components and systems based on visual inspection.
  • · Provide recommendations and cost estimates for building envelopes, components and systems repair or replacement for inclusion in the capital budget plan.
  • · Complete facility condition assessment (FCA) reports utilizing asset assessment management software.
  • · Conduct space utilization planning and space analysis.

We feel the following qualifications will set you up for success in this role!

· You have exposure to, and understanding of, building systems/components such as HVAC, roofs, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing. Understanding of building materials, life cycle/replacement and component costing.

· Your knowledge of general building design, construction, and facility operation of commercial buildings is strong.

· You possess 2+ years of experience in the building construction industry, performing building condition assessment inspections.

· You have strong client facing skills required to meet clients to discuss space needs and other project requirements.

· You are tech-savvy! Skilled in the use of computer technologies such as MS Outlook, Word, Excel, smartphone apps, inspection tools and related software.

· You can perform the physical requirements of the job which include walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time, climbing, crawling, and stooping.

· You can traverse, observe equipment, and record data and photos on safely accessible roofs and other high or open areas, which may require ladder and/or hatch access.

· You are comfortable and willing to work in densely equipped mechanical and electrical spaces requiring dedicated focus on safety protocol.

· You are open and willing to travel approximately 50% of the time to fulfil the responsibilities of the role. The travel includes day trips and overnight trips along with both driving and flying to project sites. The remaining will be working from your home. Slippers optional.

What you will need to Bring……

Education/Training Preferred for this Role:

· Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.

· Candidates will have experience in one or more of the following: Facility Design, Space Planning, Building Construction, and Facility Assessments.

· Minimum of 2 years of field experience on a variety of facilities; or proven work experience.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

· Registered Architect in the State of Nevada, Utah, Arizona or California is required. CA is preferred.

· Valid driver's license is required with no significant MVA points/violations.
