LOVE TRUST JOY BOLDNESS TEAMWORK
At Colibri, culture is a critical part of our collective success, and we live our values everyday: Love, Joy, Boldness, Teamwork and Curiosity. These values guide our interactions with each other, our customers, and the community as a whole.
Position Overview:
Gold Coast is always looking to add top quality part time and full time instructors to our team of dedicated professionals. Over the past 47 years, Gold Coast has become one of the area's largest and most prestigious licensing schools. Our main goal is to improve lives, one person at a time. It is an honor and a privilege to be the provider of choice for so many students in Florida. Gold Coast offers a variety of schedules for pre-license and continuing education courses in both English and Spanish throughout six South Florida locations.
We are seeking experienced Construction instructors to conduct Pre-Licensing and continuing education training in our South Florida campuses. Candidates will be considered for day, evening, and weekend sessions. Construction instructors are ambassadors for both Gold Coast and for the construction industry, as most learners' first introduction to the business is through the experienced eyes of their instructor. Instructors must be dynamic, positive, and encouraging to learners. Instructors teach construction related subjects at the post-secondary/college level to students who are high school graduates, and also teach advanced continuing education subjects to learners who have obtained their license and are required to complete additional education.
Our current team of construction instructors average more than 10 years' experience teaching at Gold Coast. We are looking for professionals with extensive construction knowledge, who care about people, and have the ability to explain complex concepts in an exciting and engaging manner. (No one likes a boring instructor.) We have a diverse student base that includes people of all ages, backgrounds and cultures. We entrust our instructors to spend more time with our students than anyone else in our organization. Consequently, we focus on only placing the best teachers in our classrooms.
If you meet the above qualifications, and teaching is your passion, please apply.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Teaching, presenting lectures, and conducting discussions to increase students' knowledge and competence, utilizing visual aids such as electronic audio visual equipment, whiteboards, graphs, charts, diagrams, etc.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records such as student grades, attendance rolls, and training activity details, in compliance with state laws and school policies.
  • Observe and evaluate students' work to determine progress, provide feedback, and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Administer oral, written, or performance tests to measure progress and to evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Enforce school policies and state regulations.
  • Promote other Gold Coast programs and products to Gold Coast students.
Job Requirements
The Gold Coast School of Construction will add instructors from time to time that meet the minimum instructor qualifications as defined by CILB Board Rule 61G4-18.005 that:
  • All instructors shall be qualified by education or experience to teach the course, or parts of the course to which the instructor is assigned.
  • Any Person with a Four-Year College Degree or Graduate Degree is qualified to teach any course within their field of study
  • Any active or inactive State Certified or Registered Contractor with at least 5 years’ experience may teach any technical course regarding construction within the scope of the contractor's license.
In addition to qualifying based on any of these requirements, all instructors will have to meet the following additional criteria as established by the Gold Coast School of Construction.
  • At least 2 years’ experience interacting with the subject matter either as a contractor, inspector, engineer, program administrator or business professional.
  • Previous experience in teaching which sufficiently establishes the individual as one with public presentation skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to present the subject matter as outlined in the syllabus by actual observation and critique by the Gold Coast School of Construction.
  • Completion of the Train the Trainer certification by Gold coast School of Construction.
