The Building Maintenance Electronics Technician is responsible for performing skilled work in the maintenance and repair of Sheriff's Department building and detention facility, with particular emphasis on electrical systems installation and repair. Evaluate electrical equipment and appliances throughout the building. Repair or replace as necessary. Order electric materials. Design electrical upgrades. Supervise equipment installation. Performs welding and plumbing maintenance repair. Employee is subject to the usual hazards of contact with jail inmates and detainees.

Oversee electronic systems of the complex by designing and implementing all components of the electronic security system, the CCTV matrix switching and digital recording system, the fire alarm system, Andover System, and the interior communications systems. Perform preventative maintenance on all aforementioned systems. Program and monitor all actions of the systems. Assumes primary responsibility for troubleshooting and solving electrical system problems, to include designing and supervising the installation of new wiring, performing repair work on boilers, air conditioning and HVAC units, and installing and maintaining electrical devices. Also repairs laundry machines, kitchen equipment, car wash equipment and the detention facility electrical doors. Conduct operational training for other maintenance technicians. Estimates and orders electrical materials for repair and new projects. Evaluates project outcomes, ensuring adherence to established policies, standards and codes. Compiles data and prepares preventive maintenance reports and special reports. Evaluate electrical equipment and appliances throughout the building and repair or replace as necessary. Order materials. Design electrical upgrades. Supervise equipment installation.
Prioritize the order of repair needs of the lighting and plumbing components of the complex. Perform metal fabrication and repair using MIG/TIG and OxyAceteleyne welding processes. Use mechanical cutting processes as needed.
Supervise the activities of inmates and detainees assigned to assist on various projects or specific installation, repair or maintenance tasks. Repairs lights, changes ballast, resets breakers, and checks freezers and coolers. Greases motors, gears and repairs electrical cords.
Complete other required duties by assisting other trades and maintenance technicians. Complete assigned work orders. Comply with all applicable ACA guidelines.
