Trissential is currently seeking a Business Analyst to join our dynamic team in Minneapolis, MN (Remote).
Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
  • The Business Analyst will collaborate with business and technical resources to gather, analyze, and document processes, requirements, and user stories using multiple methodologies and industry leading practices for a multi-million dollar project which will replace an existing financial application.
  • The project is focused on the implementation of a new and improved integrated web-based application that is agile, scalable, and supports end-to-end workflows for financial grant management and payment processes for the client.
  • Will partner with a Project Manager on this effort.
  • The new application will provide a secure cloud hosted solution that gives the client the capability to efficiently execute a grant management and payment processing system.
  • They will perform research and analysis, evaluate options, and professionally challenge the status quo to help determine the best possible solutions.
  • The Business Analyst will manage the requirements life, communicate effectively with multiple levels in the organization, and ensure solutions are on track to meet business needs.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Facilitate cross functional requirements gathering sessions between client teams and user communities to create or assist others in gathering and writing user requirements, documentation, instructions, procedures, and presentations using multiple methodologies including waterfall, agile, and hybrid
  • Translate business rules, requirements, and process flows into requirements, process models, user stories or other client specific requirements documentation utilizing industry standard tools
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis to ensure strong collaboration between impacted team members & clients
  • Comprehensibly understand functions of the systems for which requirements are being created
  • Diagram current/future state business/operations and technical processes utilizing industry standard tools and techniques
  • Approach issues from multiple perspectives and collaborate with clients in generating creative, effective and practical solutions
  • Question current methods while evaluating broad implications to develop practical improvements with a focus on achieving goals rather than a fear of failure
  • Apply understanding of technical/system concepts within technical area to assist with design review of solutions
  • Liaise between technical team and subject matter experts/end users to ensure alignment and understanding of what is to be delivered
  • Effectively communicate to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion and provide ongoing proactive communication to clients on work progress and impediments
  • Measure performance of the newly implemented solution against desired results and make basic improvements
  • Evaluate business processes, anticipate requirements, uncover areas for improvement, support the development and implementation of solutions
  • Manage the requirements lifecycle. Assist in estimating work for stories and requirements, track / trace requirements, develop relevant acceptance criteria
  • Facilitate grooming and prioritization of stories, support release planning activities, and demonstrate functionality as needed
  • Prepare design flow, wireframe, and reporting documentation
  • Assist with the planning and execution of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) as needed
  • All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Specific Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Work in partnership with Vendor to identify and document requirements for program grants.
  • Escalate issues, risks, and problems to the identified authority/leadership resources as required.
  • Be the point of contact between client and Vendor for contractual issues.
  • Carry out project progress and status reviews with PM and Project Implementation Team, sponsors, and steering committee.
  • Work with program leadership to understand program objectives and strategies
  • Provide identification and coordination of risk management and mitigation strategic
  • Five (5) years’ experience Business Analyst role
    • A Master’s degree substitutes for three years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree substitutes for two years, or an Associate’s degree substitutes for one year
  • Two (2) engagements lasting more than six (6) months in Business Analyst role
  • Two (2) engagements managing a vendor hosted development project

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Lead BA experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Services
  • Business Analyst Certification (IIBA certification or equivalent)

  • Ability to participate in meetings and interact effectively with various constituents and drive to consensus and resolution of questions/issues/requirements
  • Ability to handle concurrent projects of moderate scope
  • Familiarity in Microsoft Office applications, especially Project, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and negotiating skills with the ability to adapt style and approach to various levels and audiences
  • Experience working both independently and collaboratively
  • Customer-focused, "do what it takes" attitude while being flexible and open-minded
  • An ability to multi-task (strong prioritization skills), with a sharp eye for detail

Experience:
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Business Analyst
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and delegate
  • Proven success in operating in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in collaboration tools (JIRA/Confluence)
