About this role:

We are currently looking for a Business Applications Analyst to work in our Electric System Development division. This position will support organizational objectives by identifying opportunities to improve business processes through applying and integrating software technology and supporting, maintaining, and testing software applications. This position will monitor data integrity of NOVEC software systems and act as a point of contact for employees and departments who utilize the system and/or data from the system. This position will also collect and prioritize division information requirements and develop plans and activities that will result in the automation of these requirements. The selected individual will provide business process and systems subject matter expertise in departmental and cross-functional projects.


Overview of this role:

  • Reviews user requests for system modifications, processes improvements, and report requirements, and recommends the best solution for achieving desired results in consultation with the outsourced IT vendor technical services. Assists with developing and maintaining specialized reports and business intelligence tools. Meets the established requirements documented for functionality, interfaces, and reports.
  • Coordinates and conducts business process reviews to capture the current state of the process, identify problems, develop and evaluate solutions, and facilitate implementation.
  • Understands and manages data integrity of their application and the relationship of data with all corporate applications.
  • Has the ability to become a 'super user' of the business application to serve as a liaison between the functional end users and technical staff.
  • Prepares and maintains documentation related to end-user use of the system. The outsourced IT vendor will maintain documentation for the outsourced IT vendor's procedures.
  • Writes and maintains NOVEC software systems documentation and provides reference materials and support/help desk to end-users.
  • Conducts initial system troubleshooting and analysis. Recommends resolution to end-user and works with outsourced IT vendor to achieve technical resolution.
  • Conducts software orientation workshops and seminars and coordinates development, training, and communication needs for employees. Assists in training of newly hired business applications analysts on existing processes and system utilization.
  • Configures, updates, and edits system administration tables to support process requirements, maintain data integrity, and meets users' needs.
  • Develops business cases for new software releases and upgrades.
  • Prepares test plans and coordinates testing efforts of system upgrades and modifications.
  • Coordinates the installation of new releases to end-users with the outsourced IT vendor, ensuring compatibility with all corporate applications.
  • Works continually towards self-development to stay current on system operations, information management software, and computer science-related procedures and practices.


Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution (i.e. Business, IT or Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance) or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. One to two years of related experience and/or training is required, including business analysis, the administration of client-server software applications, relational databases, table structures, end-user support, training, troubleshooting, project management, and cost-benefit analysis, conducting business process reviews, and workflow modeling.

  • Demonstrated ability to function independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all company policies and procedures as well as all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and mathematical skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with general computer operation and Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of relational databases, table structures, querying functionality, report writing; software troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with all levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and meet rapidly changing customer and business needs by quickly refocusing and realigning strategic and operational direction.
  • Demonstrated business and technical writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and understand issues, identify and solves problems, and think analytically and logically.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology to meet business needs.
