DEFINITION
Responsible to the Chairman and CEO as Business Development Professional & Hospice Administrator, and for day-to-day management and leadership of Valor HospiceCare’s Tucson, Green Valley and Sierra Vista, Arizona licenses. Will be agency Administrator of record. Oversight includes the Clinical Departments, including oversight of Quality, Compliance and Education in collaboration with our QCE Department, Admissions Departments, and sustained top line revenue growth and profitability. Collaborates with Corporate Administration Services departments for services for the effective and efficient use of all resources in carrying out the organization’s plans and purposes.
JOB SUMMARY
To direct, supervise and oversee the Valor HospiceCare programs. Responsible to the Chief Executive Officer as Business Development & Hospice Administrator for the day-to-day management and leadership. Collaborates with the Controller and Corporate Administration Services department for services for the effective and efficient use of all resources in carrying out the organization’s plans and purposes.
The Business Development & Hospice Administrator will function as the lead business person for Valor HospiceCare program, working program leaders and associates at all locations.
The Business Development & Hospice Administrator is responsible, in collaboration with Corporate Administration Services, for implementing corporate policy, mission, and annual plans by maintaining appropriate staffing levels, meeting set corporate standards and goals and assuring the long-term fiscal viability of the programs.
Must be established in the area, with a strong network and grasp of competitive landscape. Understands emerging continuum of care organizations, employs top clinicians and leader to elevate the level of care in the industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for coordination of the Tucson Metro, Green Valley and Sierra Vista Sales and Admissions Programs, and the orchestration and implementation of community outreach, referral development and admission initiatives. Will have direct management responsibilities of Community Liaisons and Program Directors for all Clinical Office Locations.
- Implements Valor’s Key Account Program Strategy and Account Management Techniques to ensure effective coverage of all accounts in territory.
- Assist in development of partnership agreements/contracts with healthcare systems and community-based healthcare providers.
- Utilizes Arizona Department of Health Services databases for contact details, and other related databases for organizing sales plans.
- Utilize valuable community outreach sales tools, including the assistance of press release materials and media campaign ideas.
- Keep staff informed about important upcoming community events and marketing opportunities via monthly Community Event Calendars.
- Conduct and participate in weekly Sales & Admissions planning meetings.
- Provide quarterly Sales & admissions training.
FUNCTIONS
Sales and Admissions
- Accountable for the top line revenue growth and sustained growth of the company’s average daily census in accordance with census requirements.
- Oversee all Sales, Community Outreach and Business Development Department initiatives. Community Liaisons, Program Directors, Clinical Coordinators and Office Coordinators are active participants in these efforts.
- Collaborating 70% of work time with the Community Liaisons and team to meet KPI goals.
- Oversee and direct Company Sales & Admissions Programs, including developing sales training, SWOT analysis and future unique programs.
- Using Valor’s Territory and Account Management Plans, grows all Segments for territory efficiency and referral partner growth.
- Efficient in the use of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software for growth tracking, customer referral partnerships and sales tracking.
- Educate and monitor staff members regarding agency plan of action for community development.
- Ensure each location’s growth by expanding new and existing client base.
- Prepares appropriate plans of action to insure timely, accurate and documentable distribution of marketing collateral and information to the professional and general community.
- Lead development of new value-added services, markets and locations.
- Build cooperative relationships with referral services and promote the business effectively.
- Establish professional relationships with physicians, hospital and nursing home administrators, civic leaders, and health-related agency executives by making personal contact on a regular basis.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with the local community, service vendors and the supporting foundation.
- Represent Valor HospiceCare to the community. Schedules and presents educational, informational, and marketing programs to area professional groups.
CLINICAL AND OPERATIONS
- Oversee the general management of each location’s operations, in collaboration with location Program Directors, Clinic Coordinator and Office Coordinators.
- Assure that true interdisciplinary care is provided.
- In collaboration with Human Resources ensure that all members of the team receive appropriate support and recognition.
- Review and monitor staff utilization for comprehensive service and cost effectiveness.
ADMINSTRATOR AND COMPLIANCE
- In accordance with Medicare Conditions of Participations and other regulations, is the Administrator for Tucson/Green Valley/Sierra Vista licenses, including other locations when and if applicable.
- As the Administrator, ensures that the Business Plan is executed and achieved, as well as KPI performance programs for qualified associates and clinical evaluations.
- Participate in Valor’s Philosophy of Care Charter initiatives, including working with clinical team to further develop admissions and ‘who we serve’ protocols.
- Analyze gross profit factors, market conditions, business volume/mix, competition and operational costs.
- Participate in the design and execution of the Yearly Business Plan.
- Manage day-to-day responsibilities and actions of the Medical Directors and Nurse Practitioner with the support of Program Directors and Corporate Administration Services.
- In collaboration with Human Resources develop and oversee Professional Advisory Councils and Ethics Committee.
- Operate by the financial/budget guidelines set by Finance Department.
KNOWLEDGE
People and Culture- Organize and facilitate regular management meetings with the goal of positive, motivating team building, as well as management problem solving and peer support. Collaborate with Program Leaders and Corporate Administration Services team to educate all staff on expectations and road map illustrated in yearly business plans and conduct scheduled strategic planning retreats to schedule. Assure appropriate and cost-effective staffing levels. Demonstrate support of the corporate mission (by actions and attitude), policies and procedures and assure consistent compliance within the Hospice program. In collaboration with Human Resources, ensure Program Directors are completing fair, accurate and timely performance appraisals and that they are submitted along with appropriate documentation to the Human Resources Department. Assure the appropriate administration of employee disciplinary action as dictated by policy and procedure, with appropriate technical guidance from Human Resources Department. Keep current on local and national issues and trends and be an advisor to the team. Maintain openness to understating the broader system of the organization and its functioning
Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPIERENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field is required
- Prior Healthcare administration or management experience. A minimum of (5) years is preferred. Must be familiar with electronic medical records.
- Long-term care setting experience is a plus.
- Evidence of the ability to rapidly establish credibility at all levels of the organization, including the front lines with professional and technical personnel. Requires maturity, self-confidence, and sensitivity to function comfortably and effectively in a demanding environment.
- Willingness to get into the detail and capable of evaluating operations first-hand.
- Strong sense of urgency and drive to produce results.
LICENSE AND ACCREDITIATION
In collaboration with the QCE Department and as Business Development and Hospice Administrator, is responsible for all licensing activities with federal and state agencies and ensures CHAP and AZDHS survey readiness and ongoing QAPI program.
