JOB SUMMARY AND SCOPE

Food Service Worker independently provides safe, palatable meals for employees and guests of Down East Community through the Skylight Café.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Is responsible for the preparation and service of all hot food items for Café.
• Is responsible for the set up and break down of Café and Dining Area.
• Ensures food is prepared in safe and sanitary manner for Café.
• Assists Manager with menu development for Café and catered events.
• Performs inventory and ordering in absence of Manager.
• Serves/cashiers customers as appropriate.
• Checks incoming supplies for accuracy and quality.
• Performs storage activities of delivered items.
• Ensures Café complies with established sanitary standards.
• Responsible for restocking vending machines as necessary and collecting monies keeping with appropriate rotation of vended foods according to FIFO (First In First Out) and established policies related to shelf life.
• Performs dish washing procedures including pots, pans and all equipment.
• Seeks out needed information by staying informed and involved by attending meetings, reading memos, policies, meeting minutes, newsletters, email and other appropriate information in a timely manner.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality, including observing appropriate break times and extending a scheduled shift when necessary
• Performs duties in a safe manner, in compliance with all safety policies and procedures
• Complies with the Code of Conduct and all appropriate policies and procedures
• Caters to the Medical Staff, Organizational Committee and Board of Trustees monthly.
• Performs other related duties that are relevant to the position and department as requested by Nutrition Services Manager.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Knowledge of HACCP preferred.
• High School Diploma preferred.
• At least two years’ experience as Food Service Cook preferred.
• National Restaurant Association Serve Safe Certification preferred.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND ENVIRONMENT

Moderate: Occasionally lifts up to 25 pounds independently. Occasionally pushes/pulls 100 pounds. Stands or walks most of the time.

Physical Environment: Well-lit, well-ventilated work areas. Subject to changes in temperatures from refrigerated areas to heated areas. Subject to pressure of meeting meal schedules.

EXPOSURE RISK

Exposure Category III: Employee not reasonably expected to be at risk for exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
