We are looking for a person to join our team who can embrace company culture and values and provide excellent service at our Cafe located in Spectra Logic in Boulder, Co.
This is a part-time, mid-day position that has the opportunity, for the right candidate, to add hours doing food prep at our Catering Kitchen for A Spice of Life, also located in Boulder, Colorado.
Basic Function/Duties:
Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate the workers and resources of the restaurant for the efficient, well-prepared, and profitable service of food and beverages ensuring the clients a timely, consistent, quality product which conforms to all standards and regulations and meets/exceeds their expectations. Responsible for long and short term planning and the day-to-day management of the Café. Recommends new procedures and system improvements.

Responsible for the overall quality, look and feel of the Café resulting in the positive impact to the bottom line.
Major Responsibilities, Duties, and Authority: (list in order of importance)
1. Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
2. Count money in cash drawer at the beginning of shift to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
3. Build sandwiches and salads to order while concentrating on portion control. All food preparation must be in accordance to safety and health guidelines.
4. Monitor and oversee purchases, menus, inventory management, cost control, and daily reporting of sales and food usage.
5. Work with Regional Café Manager, Chef, and Kitchen Manager to plan menus that are flavorful and popular with customers.
6. Work with Regional Café Manager, Chef, and Kitchen Manager for efficient provisioning and purchasing of supplies.
7. Supervise portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize waste. Perform frequent checks to ensure consistent high quality of preparation and service.
8. Work with other management personnel to plan marketing, advertising, and any special restaurant functions.
9. Investigate and resolve complaints concerning food quality and service.
10. Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas.
11. Comply with all health and safety regulations according to state and federal laws.
12. Review and monitor, with accounting, expenditures to ensure that they conform to budget limitations. Work to improve performance.
13. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Job Specifications (describe the minimum requirements necessary to perform this job successfully.
Experience: Management and café service experience desirable.
Specific Knowledge: Background in the hospitality industry a plus.
Complexity of Duties: Must be professional and courteous at all times with clients and peers.
A basic knowledge of food and the food service industry required. Management experience is necessary and great communication skills are essential. Must be extremely organized, process oriented and always looking for ways to improve efficiency and quality.
Written and Oral Communications: Excellent written and oral skills necessary within all levels of the company as well as outside customers, vendors, etc.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and positively with a wide range of personalities – both within the company and outside. Can easily communicate and conduct business with our clients. Must have a strong personality to stand behind ones convictions when challenged, yet must be open to the opinions/ideas of others. Must maintain a calm and professional demeanor under pressure.
Decision Making: Must be able to assess options and convey opinions effectively. Must be sensitive to the goals of the company. Must be able to set priorities for efficient, precise and prompt service for Café customers.
Management Skills: Must have ability to motivate and develop staff, while supporting decisions of upper management. Sensitive to individuals as well as the team. Must be able to set goals and develop strategies to achieve them.
Equipment/Software Skills: MS Word, Excel, and Outlook skills.
Physical Demands: Constantly moves about to coordinate work for/with cafeteria staff anywhere from 8-9 hours a day. Will be expected to lift up to 50 pounds. . Must be able to hear with 100% accuracy with correction. Must be able to see 20/20 vision with correction.
