This is a part-time position based out of our Merrillville, IN Corporate Centre. Normal Cafe hours are Monday-Friday: 8:00 am-3:00 pm. This position will work 16-24 hours/week.

Summary:
Create a hospitable and relaxed environment where guest feels welcomed and cared for. Prepares and serves Café food. Maintains cleanliness in all areas of the Café, kitchen, and dining area. Sanitizes dishes, equipment, and tables. Maintains cash and provides World Class service to Café clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares menu items using established policies and procedures.
Assures menu items are prepared in sufficient quantities to satisfy volume as needed or directed.
Provides services to cafe customers in a friendly and efficient manner; meeting café shopper expectations. This includes wearing a name tag, learning associate names and using their names while waiting on them.
Operates food preparation equipment.
Maintains safety standards.
Serves food that is the correct serving temperature and quality.
Reports substandard food quality to the attention of the Café Manager and properly discards.
Sets up, maintains and cleans café food bar.
Cleans café; including the serving area continually.
Cleans café area before, during, and after business hours.
Operates a cash register and maintains proper cash handling requirements.
Utilizing the 3 compartment sink system: sorts, washes and sanitizes all dishes, pots/pans, utensils, etc.
Stores clean items; inspects items for cleanliness and breakage.
Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas.
Collects, sorts and disposes of trash.
Stock supplies as needed.

Set up and break down for corporate meetings.
Deliver snacks to our extended building locations/Focus Building.
Assist with after hour retirement parties or special events.
Follow our corporate values while assisting associates.

Assist with early morning corporate events as needed.

Stock supplies as needed.
Go through ServSafe certification, become certified and maintain certification.
Able and willing to work extra hours/days as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient in a Windows environment and basic knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Calculator and basic mathematical skills are necessary.

Ability to stand 80-90% of the day.
Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior customer services and/or food handling experience.
Flexible schedule availability.
ServeSafe Certified or willing to become become ServSafe Certified
