Summary of Position:

Provide support to the food services department at an assigned location with specific responsibilities for preparing and serving food to students and other personnel while maintaining safe and sanitary conditions.

• These positions are for Kyrene School District in Tempe, Chandler, South Phoenix, Ahwatukee, and surrounding areas.

• These positions are day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no nights, weekend, or Holiday responsibilities.

• We offer both part time and full time jobs

Qualifications:

• Ability to safely and properly operate equipment found in commercial kitchens

• Ability to adhere to safety practices

• Ability to read and follow recipes (multi-step written and oral instructions)

• Possess basic cooking and cleaning skills

• Sensitivity and respect for people of various backgrounds, cultures, experiences, and socioeconomic situations

• Must be able to obtain a food handler’s card within 2 weeks of hire as well as successful completion of background check/clearance if applicable

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook food according to standardized recipes, production records and Kitchen Lead, General Manager of Food Service, and/or other on-site/visiting Management instruction.

• Serves meals to students, staff, parents, etc. and ensures lines are stocked.

• Ensures quality of prepared food based on SFE standards and mandated health standards.

• Maintains equipment, serving utensils, storage areas, food preparation and serving areas in a sanitary condition.

• Inventories food, condiments, supplies, etc.

• Assist with receiving, checking temperatures, and putting away deliveries.

• Ensure kitchen is sanitary at end of the day to include but not limited to dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, sanitizing work/prep/serving stations, dusting, etc.

• Merchandises food and beverage items according to SFE standards.

• Follows all safety protocols.

• Cross train in all roles of the cafeteria and fill in when needed to ensure staff coverage and smooth service (i.e. cashiering).

• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Ability to speak, read, write and understand English and/or dominate language at the school

Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours)

Be physically able to lift, reach, bend and stoop frequently lift up to 30 pounds
