POSITION REQUIREMENTS / EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Ideal candidate is a mature, responsible, dependable, patient, people-oriented individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment; exhibits initiative, accuracy, and attention to detail; and is creative, tactful, and flexible. Good grammar and strong speaking skills, enthusiasm, and friendly interpersonal skills necessary. Basic computer skills, a quick learner of new computer skills and software, and the ability to multitask are required. Previous experience in a Call Center preferred.


OBJECTIVE:
Support COSI’s mission to provide a quality science, educational, and entertaining resource center for people of all ages, by delivering consistently excellent customer service. Be responsible for answering phones and assisting all callers in a helpful and informative manner, including processing various kinds of reservations for individuals and groups. Assist with office administrative work, including data entry and mailings. Keep up with ever-changing information about COSI operations, offerings, events, and the roles of various Divisions, in order to offer an accurate and enthusiastic first impression of COSI.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a vision of excellence ensuring top-quality service delivery for COSI callers.
  • Process phone call and e-mail reservations for various internal and outreach programs, as well as group field trips, member previews, and special events. Field and transfer calls for the entire COSI team. Process credit card payments, send confirmation and pre-visit materials, file paperwork, etc.
  • Effectively learn and utilize computer technologies including word processing, spreadsheets, and reservation software.
  • Serve in backup capacity to other Call Center Team Members and assist with new hire training. Provide front-of-house support for Box Office and Guest Relations as needed.
  • Engage in on-going training and professional development experiences. Maintain a working knowledge of all COSI programs and general museum operations.
  • Support general COSI operations through participation in meetings as appropriate. Work to achieve COSI and Divisional goals.
  • Work towards COSI’s mission and vision of expanding the COSI brand to increase engagement with diverse audiences of all backgrounds.
  • Serve as an example to other COSI Team Members and Volunteers in matters of appearance, attitude and performance in a manner best serving COSI paid and Volunteer Team Members and Guests.
  • In accordance with COSI's Guest Services Strategy and as opportunities present themselves, provide excellence in Guest Services by assuring Guest safety, using courtesy to drive each Guest interaction, by delivering the COSI show, and by keeping operations efficient.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Call Center Supervisor, and/or the Director of Guest Relations & Reservations.
