LOCATION:
Lakeshore Technical College – Cleveland, Wisconsin
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for monitoring the condition of building equipment and provide security checks on all doors and windows.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Other duties may be assigned):
100%

  • Monitor the condition of building equipment such as boilers, pumps, walk-in coolers, fire alarm systems, etc.
  • Record on a preprinted checklist temperature, pressure, and other information indicating the condition of equipment.
  • Page on-duty maintenance worker if equipment falls outside normal operating ranges.
  • Check doors and windows to make sure they are secure and report any destruction of property or violation of campus rules and regulations.
  • Lock and unlock doors as directed by weekend class schedules.
  • Provide an exceptional customer service experience to both internal and external customers throughout every interaction. Other duties as assigned.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:

  • Working knowledge of utilizing and searching the Internet.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be customer-focused, accurate, and possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form are a must.
  • Required skills include proficiency in spelling, grammar, and proof reading; skilled in typing/keyboarding.
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
  • Must be dependable and professional.
  • Exemplify college values in all staff and student interactions, as well as services delivered.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and relate successfully with staff, students, and people of diverse cultural, social, or educational backgrounds.
  • Fluent, bilingual individual is beneficial.•
  • Ability to keep accurate reports and records of activities and the ability to observe and accurately recall facts and details.
  • Ability to quickly assess situations, and rapidly consider and implement appropriate action.
  • Must possess integrity, initiative, multi-tasking, flexibility, self-direction, continuous learning, strong communication skills, firm reassuring manner, and sound judgment under pressure.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be currently enrolled in, and in good standing, in the Lakeshore Technical College Criminal Justice, Fire Medic, or Paramedic Technician program. Must maintain a “C” average in all classes.

  • Valid State of Wisconsin Driver's License required.
  • MVR CHECK Required (Check this box only if the following statement is applicable) – The employee in this position is a potential operator of a Lakeshore Technical College owned vehicle or may be responsible for driving any other motor vehicles on behalf of the College.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment may require multi-tasking.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

CONDITION(S) OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Employment conditional on completion of a ground Information Disclosure (BID) and a Motor Vehicle Records Check with the results acceptable to the College.
  • Valid State of Wisconsin driver’s license is required.
  • Student success always comes first, and it is expected that the student maintains average grades while employed. Failure to do so may result in their student help position being discontinued.
  • Students must be active and enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits pers semester and/or enrolled in an academic program.
