Overview: The Family Success Network is a new program of Greenleaf Family Center, providing opportunities and options to families in Summit County. The Family Success Network is a multi-tiered program to prevent child abuse and neglect.
The family coach will help families navigate systems by connecting them with available services in their community. Every family will have access to a personal Family Coach that can offer interested family’s financial literacy, concrete supports, parenting education and referrals, and help creating a personalized family success plan. This position provides direct services to Summit County families and will utilize evidence-based practices in delivering the programs and services directly to families. Specific activities include, but are not limited to:
· Using universal screening tools to assess families for appropriate FSN services, ongoing case management, supportive consultative services and other community resources. Tools may include the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Child Trauma Assessment Checklist (CTAC) and others.
· Engaging families through short-term, intensive, in-home monthly visits that offer the six pillars of FSN’s service model (family coaching, parent education, basic life skills, financial literacy, service referrals, and concrete supports). In the home, virtually, or a neutral setting, the Coach would:
o Administer universal screening tools for the family, assessing strengths and weaknesses.
o Guide each family in developing a prevention services plan, to include the family’s goals.
o Utilizing evidence-based programming with the goal of enhancing the family’s protective factors and stability (referencing the six pillars).
o Incorporate Motivational Interviewing to elicit behavioral change within the family.
o Navigate resource and referral networks on behalf of the family.
· Ensure collection/documentation of data and services, consistent w/ requirements of the program evaluation; adhering to evaluator guidance on evaluation/assessment administration; support the evaluation staff updating needs and resource assessments for the project.
· Develop, maintain and strengthen collaborative relationships within the County’s family/child serving systems to offer the broadest and most effective network of resources to participating families. Attend community meetings and meetings of collaborative members (e.g., Family & Children First Council).
· Submit programmatic/fiscal reports to the Program Manager and partners requesting data.
· Participates in Ohio Children’s Trust Fund, Cross-site and partner meetings as needed; and represents FSN and OCTF at conferences, trainings and meetings as needed.
PREFERRED Qualifications:
Education: Degree not required (BS, BA in social work/counseling, or related field considered) – life experience involving the child welfare system preferred (ex: serving families/children at-risk of, or having experienced, child abuse and neglect. Personal involvement with child welfare as a parent, child, kinship provider, foster parent, etc. Individuals in long-term recovery are also considered.
Experience: Prior experience involved with the child welfare system in some form. See details listed above. Professional experience working to remove barriers for families seeking support, working across systems, administering universal screening tools, data collection, documentation, software, and data compliance issues.
Strong interpersonal, organizational and written skills. Ability to function effectively in a team approach to service delivery. Must possess a valid driver’s license, a personal vehicle, and automobile insurance to operate a motor vehicle in Ohio.
