Job description

A premier community health center is seeking a Career Counselor to take on a leadership role within their program that provides training and job placement services to unemployed adults. Participants of this program consist of adults with severe mental illness and other barriers to employment including homelessness, substance abuse, and learning disabilities. As the Career Counselor, you will develop and manage employer accounts to create new opportunities for program participants and to prepare them for success.

• Conduct intakes, screenings, vocational assessments, recovery plans, individual/group counseling, job development, job coaching, and benefits assistance
• Provide intensive employment supports and job retention services for individuals/groups
• Develop internships and competitive job placements in the community
• Coordinate and communicate with collateral providers: counselors, housing workers, therapists and psychiatrists, on behalf of participants
• Establish and maintain working relationships with employers and businesses in the community and perform site visits to participants’ work sites
• Carry a caseload, and document all services rendered including case notes and recovery plans in AWARDS and other data base systems
• Prepare all mandated reporting as required by supervisor, contract agency and funding agency

Qualifications:

• Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or a related field
• Must have prior experience working with the psychiatric and substance abuse population

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
