Weber Group is a design, build construction and specialty fabrication company with broad experience with themed environments including theme parks, amusement parks, waterparks, museums and zoos. Everything from the décor around rollercoasters to aquariums. Projects are national in scope, and with some of the best family entertainment companies across the country.

The Weber Group is currently looking for Carpenter/laborer to work in their Sellersburg, IN facility. Building everything from log cabins to video game cabinets and then delivering and installing the same or a giant octopus sculpture this job is a creative problem solving every day.

POSITION: Carpenter/laborer-framing/trim/casework

REPORTS TO: Immediate supervisor-Carpentry Supervisor/Shop Manager

Job Summary:

An individual who, in employing the tools of his trade, can produce quality work through knowledge, tradesman ship, and ingenuity. Work requires proficiency in some but not all of the following areas: carpentry, casework, trim work, steel framing, painting and finishing. Experience in the following a plus: masonry, cement formwork placement/finishing, flooring, roofing, sheet metal and welding. This is an hourly position starting at competitive rates.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

This position will require travel, and will require extended stays at job sites through the duration of construction projects throughout the country. Regular trips home are a standard practice during extended installs. All travel time at time and half.

Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and structural components incorporated into commercial buildings conforming to local and state building codes by performing construction activities in areas of proficiency.

Understanding how to read architectural drawings, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required and the detailed method of assembly.

Construct, fabricate, alter, and repair structural wood/steel work, floors, walls, ceilings, stairways and install non-structural fixtures.

Proficient in the use of all tools and equipment required to perform job functions.

Selects correctly the specified type of materials.

Performs basic layout. Mark assembly lines on structure and cutting lines on materials.

Assembles cut and shaped materials as specified in plans or directed by supervisor.

Performs laboring duties as it relates to trade.

Performs maintenance tasks related to site construction (site cleanup, repairs, painting, yard maintenance).

Other duties assigned as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Working Environment:

Travels, locally, regionally, and nationally as needed to represent the company.

Physical Demands:

Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends when necessary.

Frequent standing, walking, lifting, handling, reaching to shoulder

Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends when necessary.

Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 100 pounds.

Occasional sitting, kneeling, squatting, crawling, carrying, reaching, stooping, climbing stairs/ladders, and balancing.

Travel maybe required for projects throughout the Midwest

Communicates using English language.

Sees and hears or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

Uses telephone and computer extensively throughout the workday.

Sits, reaches and lifts intermittently throughout the workday. Lifts, pushes, pulls, and moves equipment, supplies, etc., of ten (10) pounds throughout the workday.

Safety Requirements:

First Aid, CPR and Bloodbourne Pathogen training.

Familiar with all current OSHA General Industry Safety and other applicable regulations relating to employee safety and accident prevention.

Participate in weekly safety meetings. (Tool Box Talks)

Comply with safety requirements of WGI

Requirements

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

High school education or equivalent.

2 years in the construction industry.

Basic computer skills as it relates to entering time and communication by email

Preferred - Successfully completed OSHA 10 or OSHA 30-hour courses.

Driver must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record with insurance carrier and where applicable drivers will comply with DOT Commercial Driver License regulations

When applicable, driver must have reliable means of transportation

Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, contractors, superiors, professional trades, e.g., architects and engineers, subcontractors, building codes authorities and owners.

Ability to read and correctly interpret blueprints / drawings and take-off accurate measurements.

Sound understanding of accepted construction practices, techniques and procedures.

Knowledge of building materials, tools, machinery
