The Olympic Club at Lakeside is located in San Francisco, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The Clubhouse is host to over 700+ member events each year including crab feeds, wine dinners, weddings, sports tournaments, children's holiday parties and events for all occasions. The focus for each of our Lakeside staff is to "wow" the members each and every time by exceeding their expectations at every opportunity.

The Catering Director oversees, manages, directs, and is responsible for all functions of the Lakeside Catering department. This will include individual responsibility for booking events including but not limited to weddings, anniversary parties, wedding and baby showers, golf and tennis events, and Club special events. The Catering Director works collaboratively with the food & beverage management team on banquet menu pricing, banquet event setup, service standards, etc. This role is located at the Lakeside campus and will also focus on developing world-class golf experiences to sell and promote with a developing corporate clientele.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

The Catering Director oversees and supervises the Catering Manager at Lakeside.

The Catering Director will generate new business through the Club’s membership, networking with contacts, and using social media marketing.

The Catering Director will work closely with clients from initial contact through completion of their event confirming all details of the event and ensuring all details have been communicated via banquet event order to the Clubhouse management team on a timely basis. This includes answering initial inquiries, offering property tours, reviewing all room and set up options, décor, and food with clients.

The Catering Director works closely with the Executive Chef in creating specialized menus for each event.

The Catering Director follows up with the client after each event via online survey.

The Catering Director is in constant communication with the Catering Manager, Banquet Manager, and culinary team to review arrangements for upcoming events and parties. During weddings and certain other events including Club special events, the Catering Director, in collaboration with the Dining and Banquet manager, will oversee staff, making sure all service standards, policies, and safety regulations are followed.

The Catering Director will process billing for all events within 48 hours of completion and ensure billing information is completed for payroll in a timely manner

Working with the Lakeside Clubhouse Director the Catering Director will prepare an annual budget based on the previous year's data and projections for the year ahead and then review the budget monthly to ensure banquet revenue projections are met.

This position requires a flexible schedule for work evenings, weekends, and holidays as determined by business needs.

Other functions and responsibilities:

Ensure payroll is completed on time and correctly for all catering staff.

Attend management meetings and other meetings as requested by the Club, Senior Director of Club Operations, or Clubhouse Director.

Qualifications Required:

• Minimum 5 years experience as exempt Catering Manager or Catering Director in hotels/medium sized banquet/catering operation
• Extensive knowledge of food, wine and service
• Highly organized. Successful multi-tasker
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Skilled in MS Office; Word, Excel, Outlook

Qualifications Desired:

• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalency in Hospitality Management or related field.
• Proven success in increasing catering sales business year over year.
• Working knowledge of Catering software (Northstar, ResDiary, Allseated).
