What You’ll Do:


Operate equipment on an asphalt paving crew in order to construct roads by performing the following duties:


  • Drive water truck to and from job sites safely and efficiently.
  • Grease, oil, and make normal operating adjustments to the Water Truck, and lift/move transported materials as needed.
  • Perform pre/post-inspection of the vehicle and trailer, filling out inspection sheet daily, and notifying supervisor if the vehicle needs to be repaired.
  • The driver will be responsible for loading and unloading large quantities of water for compaction and/or dust control. Filling the water on equipment throughout the day.
  • Operate broom/skid steer in order to clear the roads of debris and/or preparation for laying asphalt.
  • Safely and proficiently navigate jobs and load and unload equipment onto trailers. Chaining and binding of equipment being transported.
  • Driver/Operator must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely
  • Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the actions of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
  • Perform a variety of tasks assisting within the operation of the job site, including using hand tools, raking materials, cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials, assisting in spotting dumps, and traffic support as needed.
  • Must follow verbal/written instructions, communicate effectively, and be a team player.

Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with OSHA, ALDOT, and Vulcan standards.

Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.


Skills You’ll Need:

  • Must possess a Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement and have a valid DOT physical or the ability to get one.
  • Previous experience in the aggregate or construction industry is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of general principles and practices of industrial maintenance, asphalt construction, or aggregate production is preferred but not required.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
