The Cemetery Administrator has full managerial responsibility for planning, programming, coordinating, and directing the administration and operation of a State Veterans Cemetery which provides burial options and memorial services to a population of more than 325,000 Veterans who reside in Minnesota.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years (3) of experience providing direct supervision and leadership to multiple staff
  • Ability to plan, evaluate and organize work, set priorities and determine resource requirements, while coordinating with other organizations to accomplish goals
  • Public speaking and/or group facilitation experience, sufficient to develop and deliver presentations to broad, diverse audiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cemetery field operations experience including any of the following: interments; grounds, equipment and facilities maintenance and safety; installation and maintenance of headstones, markers, and niche covers
  • Cemetery or funeral home administrative operations such as property accountability, determining eligibility for interments, and committal services
  • Knowledge of Federal, state, local, National Cemetery Administration, and military policies and procedures for cemetery operations and military funeral honors
  • Experience as a Funeral Director, Cemetery Administrator, or member of an Active Military Funeral Honors Team
  • Knowledge of fundamental contracting and procurement processes
  • Working knowledge of collective bargaining unit agreements, sufficient to identify potential issues and limitations
