Job Summary:

The shift is 8:00pm to 8:00am.

The main purpose of the Central Service Specialist position is to resolve all driver issues to ensure limited down time for the driver and truck in route to destination. The Central Service Specialist is a key part of the maintenance team who will help assist drivers and managers during non-business hours with issues such as accidents, Comdata fuel cards, HOS for safety, and customer service.


Essential Functions:

  • Manages breakdown situations by evaluating damages, arranging for repairs, and facilitating load completion through communications with drivers, managers, and customers.
  • Assist the Maintenance Department with keying in invoices and completing the invoices that are created.
  • Call Vendors to get copies of invoices and then processing them.
  • Assist with HOS and learn to understand log editing and different functions in electronic logs.
  • Responds to accident calls during non-business hours, including preparing accident reports, assigning outside adjusters, and arranging for drug testing per Safety protocols.
  • Assists drivers with Comdata-related issues; such as fuel, Comchecks, and any other issues.
  • Responsible for CSC building security during non-business hours, including maintaining facility visitor log.
  • Answers all telephone calls to Customer Service Center after normal hours of operation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have computer experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of transportation management software and on board technology.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to interact effectively within all levels of the Customer’s and Cardinal’s organization.
  • The ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Must be comfortable working at night, without direct supervision.
  • Must be able to handle high pressure situations and multitasking.
  • Willing to travel within a four month period after being hired.
  • Must be willing to work any shift that is available.
