Central Sterile Processing Technician

One of the top hospitals in Essex County in coastal northern Massachusetts is seeking a Central Sterile Processing Technician for an opening in the acute care setting.
Responsibilities:
- Performs decontamination procedures according to prescribed specifications, in a safe and cost-effective manner.
- Is knowledgeable and adheres to universal precautions and the OSHA blood born pathogen standards when working in the area.
- Cleans machines and decontamination work area daily.
- Maintains a clean and healthy work environment.
- Safely operates all machinery used in the decontamination and, sterilization areas in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Retrieves contaminated instruments/equipment twice a day though out the facility, disassembles and
- decontaminates sterilizes according to established guidelines and delivers sterile supplies back to hospital departments.
- Recognizes and responds to priorities concerning instrumentation as it relates to the surgery schedule.
- Assembles all instrumentation for sterilization according to policy and procedure and monitors quality assurance.
Requirements:
- Education – High school diploma or equivalent
- 3-6 months’ instrument processing experience preferred
- Certified Surgical tech or CSP certification required within one year of employment (IAHCSMM or CBSPD)
- Must be available to respond to 30-minute on-call policy
