Job description

We are a busy, growing and progressive dental office with an immediate opening for a full time dental assistant at our Oneonta office. We offer a friendly caring work atmosphere and competitive pay and benefits.

We are looking for a highly motivated, pleasant, energetic individual with great people skills.

The position is hands on and excellent customer service is a must. Also, you must be able to follow instructions and respect all dental office regulations.

The ideal candidate will be: well-organized with great attention to detail; skilled in providing direct and indirect patient care; able to make office procedures proceed as smoothly as possible.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients into the dental office.
• Show care and concern while comforting patients during treatment.
• Prepare patients for treatment.
• Select and set up instruments, equipment, and materials needed for the dentist.
• Sterilize and maintain instruments according to state regulations.
• Assist the dentist with instruments and material needed for treatment of a patient.
• Undertake lab tasks as instructed.
• Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions.
• Keep the dental room clean and well stocked.
• Schedule dental appointments.
• Maintain accurate patient records and assist with payment procedures.

Requirements

• Dental Assistant Certification
• Minimum of 3 years dental assistant experience
• Ability to project a positive, warm and professional image in person and on the phone
• Strong organizational and administrative skills – you see what needs to be done and do it
• Must be articulate and service-oriented
• Ability to multitask, take initiative and anticipate needs of others
• Reliable and prompt; available for at least 35 hours per week
• Works well in a team, with humor, enthusiasm and joyful consideration of others
• High school diploma or equivalent

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
