This is an open to fill recruitment; which means the job posting will close once we have hired our new team members. This recruitment will be used to fill various types of positions as positions become available. Types of jobs may include regular full time or part positions, on-call positions (up to 20 hours per week) or temporary positions (40 hours a week up to 6 months). Let us know which clinic locations and what type of employment you are interested in as many of our on-call and temporary staff may become regular status employees as opportunities arise.
The Certified Medical Assistant provides clinical support to the patient care team directed towards the prevention of disease and promotion of health using professional clinical support for quality patient care. This position works as part of a care delivery team and works closely with physicians and mid-level providers and other team members to help ensure the delivery of high quality patient care.
As the Certified Medical Assistant you will:
  • Provide Patient follow-up (i.e.: after visit instructions, setting appointments, patient education, communicate normal lab results and reminder phone calls)
  • Support back office clinic flow and time management for providers.
  • Prepare patients for exams and procedures.
  • Review immunizations, forecast and administer immunizations for clients of all ages.
  • Perform medical treatments such as simple would care, ear irrigations, suture removal and fluoride treatments.
  • Ensure exam room is stocked and cleaned for ready for use.
  • Provide back-up lab duties including phlebotomy and processing labs.
  • Complete assigned Quality Control/Assurance activities
  • Provide back-up to the preventative MA.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be as noted below. All non-traditional education, training and experience will be evaluated.
  • Education/Experience/Training: Requires graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
  • Certification: Certification through a nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification program, such as AAMA, AMT, NCCT or CCMA, is required.
  • CPR certification is required (valid CPR certification must be provided upon hire)
  • Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check including fingerprinting.

However, keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates.   • Knowledge of principles, and procedures of record-keeping and reporting
  • Ability to make observations concerning patients' general health conditions
  • Ability to take and record vital signs and perform assigned laboratory tests
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
  • Transferable skills: Your transferable skills are any skills you have gained through education, work experience (including the military) or life experiences that are relevant for this position. COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement:
  • To protect the health of the community and employees, Multnomah County requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved medical or religious exception by October 18, 2021 as a qualification of employment.
  • The rule applies to all employees, as allowable by law. Candidates who receive an offer of County employment must provide proof of vaccination upon hire or submit an exception request prior to their start date.
