Job Description:
The MA with LMR assists the staff and physician by collection of pertinent patient information needed to determine physical and psychological needs, address and identify health problems, performs selected treatments, diagnostic procedures, chest x-rays, various extremity x-rays and routine duties. The MA with LMR functions as a member of the healthcare team with responsibilities commensurate with educational preparation, training and demonstrated competencies. Direct patient care is provided to patients of all ages.
The following is a summary of the major functions of this position. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which may not be mentioned below, as well as specific functions may change from time to time.
- Perform EKG’s, venipunctures, pulmonary function testing, and other lab procedures and treatments with accuracy.
- Accurately obtain vital signs and record patient data in an accurate, legal and appropriate manner.
- Performs all radiographic exams and is responsible for all film quality
- Maintains radiation safety per departmental policy
- Keeps all x-ray equipment and supplies clean, maintained and stocked.
- Application of splints, braces and wound dressings in correct manner.
- Assist physician with exams/procedures.
- Room/equipment/instrument set-up, cleaning, practice good infection control, order supplies and restock as necessary.
- Prepares maintenance requests as needed.
- Respect/promote patient rights, maintain confidentiality, and exhibit friendly/helpful behaviors.
- Respond to emergencies in appropriate manner and according to policy.
- Follow all OSHA and departmental policies; perform quality control, record data as necessary.
- All departmental/staff/operational problems reported to the appropriate supervisor in a timely manner.
- Clerical duties may include scheduling, answering phone, filing, copying, completing forms/referrals/precerts, obtaining demographic information, updating charts, assuring fee tickets reflect services perform.

Renders patient care under direction of physician and by order of MD, PA, or NP which includes:
1.) Assists physician with procedures/examinations
2.) Performs alcohol and drug screen collections; BaptistWorx, Urgent Care
3.) Completes documentation of patient complaints or reason for visit, as well as all documentation in professional and timely manner.
4.) Performs all procedures/treatments per physician order with accuracy and consideration for patient comfort
5.) Assists patients and families with educational needs and provides assistance in other areas as warranted

X ray Duties:
1.) Performs radiographic exams and is responsible for film quality assurance
2.) Maintains radiation safety
3.) Keeps all x ray equipment and supplies clean, maintained and stocked
4.) Responsible for all quality control on x ray equipment

1.) Schedules appointments for patients and obtains appropriate authorization from insurance or workman’s compensation
2.) Fee tickets are checked accurately to reflect services performed
3.) Speaks to appropriate personnel regarding workman’s comp; BaptistWorx, Urgent Care
4.) Answers telephones as needed
5.) Assures that insurance and demographic information is accurate and updated as necessary

1.) Performs all testing with accuracy and with under order of MD
2.) Performs all quality testing per department policies and records data with accuracy

1.) Infection control is practiced at all times, including patient, instruments, room and equipment.
2.) Appropriate records are maintained per departmental policy
3.) Supplies are ordered, stored restocked in rooms and labs as necessary

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred Limited Radiographer Certification required
- RT license may be considered in place of LMR
BCLS required Minimum two years of LMR and direct patient care experience preferred

Physical Requirements :
Strength—requires the ability to frequently push/pull objects of more than 50 pounds and the ability to frequently lift objects of more than 50 pounds, manual dexterity—requires the individual to constantly perform moderately difficult manipulative skills such as positioning a patient and skills such as typing on a computer console, talking on the telephone, writing, using copy equipment and fax machine, coordination—requires individual to constantly perform tasks which require hand-eye steadiness, mobility—requires this individual to constantly alternate between sitting and walking each day, visual discrimination—requires the ability to constantly see objects closely as in reading and using the computer, communication—requires individuals to constantly be able to hear normal sounds with some background noise as in answering the telephone or dealing with another person. Also requires good articulation and voice modulation.

Concentration—constant ability to concentrate on details with frequent interruptions, attention span—ability to attend to tasks or functions until their completion, conceptualization—frequently understands and relates to concepts behind specific ideas, memory—constantly able to remember tasks/assignments given at the beginning of a period of time and extending several days. Must be able to frequently remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and other during the course of a day, as well as over long periods of time, communication—constantly able to communicate verbally using an advanced level vocabulary and to communicate in written work using advanced written skills, advanced verbal skills and medical terminology.
Working Conditions:
Position requires occasional exposure to blood, body tissue or fluids and hazardous material and dust. Position may be stressful and demanding.
