Idaho Falls Community Hospital is looking for a Certified Nurse Assistant to join our team!

JOB SUMMARY:

The CNA/ Unit secretary helps to facilitate functions within the department, by performing clerical duties related to patient care and department flow. Responsibilities include administrative duties within the department. Answers phone calls to the unit in a professional manner. Manages calls into the locked unit and notifies charge nurse of any concerns with visitors. Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of nursing and the registered nurse in charge of the team and/or unit. Maintains solid communication with patients, visitors, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides basic nursing care that includes actions that meet developmental and psychosocial needs and communication needs to patients and family within the nursing assistant’s scope of practice.
• Ensures that patient’s needs are met at mealtimes and that patients receive their meals in a timely manner where applicable.
• Ensures that patient daily hygiene needs are met, i.e., bathing, brushing teeth, changing of bed linen, etc. under the direction of the bedside RN.
• Serves as department receptionist, receiving and transmitting messages (personal, telephone, computer) or inquiries to the appropriate destination.
• Performs other general administrative duties as required (e.g., emails, filing, ordering supplies, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of a certified nursing assistant program. Current, unencumbered CNA certification. Current BLS. Basic dysrhythmia course or certified telemetry course to be completed within 6 weeks of hire.
• Previous experience required. Experience working with children preferred.
• Basic computer and typing skills. Operate vital sign monitoring devices and manual B/P equipment and use a glucometer.
