Mercy Health Youngstown is offering an exciting opportunity for a Certified Pathology Assistant to meet the growing demand for pathology services at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. Our progressive Pathology department includes a grossing room which is less then 5 years old, with grossing stations also less than 5 years old. We are seeking a Certified Pathology Assistant to provide high quality and personalized care. The candidate will work with an exceptional team of 11 Pathologists who are part of our outstanding pathologist department.

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Pathology Assistant performs gross examination and description on all accessioned specimens. Through working knowledge, representative samples of tissue are submitted for microscopic evaluation. When appropriate, the pathologist is consulted during the examination. The Pathology Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Pathologists and the Histology Supervisor. Autopsy services are not performed at Mercy Health Youngstown.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Years and Type of Experience: 5 years experience preferred. Registry eligible candidates will be considered (new graduates)

4 Years/Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or Biology Related Major
