Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) Opportunity with Long Island Plastic Surgical Group!
All candidates MUST be willing to travel, if needed.
All candidates MUST have flexibility to work nights and weekends, if needed.
All candidates MUST have breast reconstruction experience.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Graduate of an accredited physician assistant training program
  • Certified NYS Physician Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must maintain a valid Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration and professional liability insurance in accordance with his/her employment agreement
  • Become and remain a provider in good standing in the Medicare and Medicaid programs.
  • CPR, ACLS, BLS
  • Ability to multi-task and work within a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain a sense of urgency
  • Extensive surgical procedure knowledge
  • Ability to perform wound care, suture, and drain removal
  • Ability to perform minor surgical procedures without in-room supervision
  • Ability to perform consultations when the supervising physician is absent
  • Maintain registration in good standing as an RPA, in accordance with NYS laws
  • Apply, be awarded, and maintain in good standing, membership on the medical staff of each Facility with appropriate privileges at each Facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES:

  • Perform patient care duties as directed by the supervising physician
  • Maintain open lines of communication with the supervising physician in regards to a patient’s medical history (or other information) during consultations, before/after surgery, and office visits.
  • See pre-op and post-op patients; conduct all preoperative histories and physicals and provide the patient with any prescriptions they will need during the perioperative period; answer any pre/post-operative questions from patients
  • Meet with new and existing patients of the supervising physician during office hours; responsible for inpatient consults when supervising physician is unavailable
  • Completes, notes summaries, evaluations, and other medical records using EMR (Nextech)
  • Utilize advanced assessment skills to anticipate complex patient problems specific to plastic surgery
  • Perform a variety of inpatient patient care activities, wound care, dressing changes, removal of drain and sutures, etc.
  • Obtain patient’s medical and personal history; obtain signed consent forms and perform physical evaluations on patients; ensure data entered is complete, accurate, up-to-date, and communicated to supervising physician and other medical staff in an organized fashion
  • Provide preoperative preparation for patients by completing surgery scheduling forms, obtaining signed consent forms, handing certification insurance concerns
  • Perform postoperative follow-up assessments on patients
  • Assist supervising physician in the operating room with various tasks such as performing first assist in surgery (i.e. surgical procedures such as retraction, cutting suture, etc.); accompany and assist supervising physician at other hospitals, when necessary
  • Maintain and develop knowledge concerning new surgical techniques, while maintaining the skills of the Primary Care PA
  • Observe and comply with all reasonable policies, rules and regulations of the practice and other facilities
