Overview

Works with a Radiologist to perform diagnostic imaging examinations that are crucial for the detection of illness, injury, and other medical conditions. The Certified Radiology Technician produces high-quality radiographs (x-rays) to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of medical problems. Provides essential support to ensure patients are comfortable and at ease throughout the course of the procedure. Prevents patients from being exposed to unnecessary radiation.

Salary: $52000-$75000(based on experience)

Location: Pico Rivera, CA

Qualifications

1. Graduation from an accredited radiology program required.
2. Must be registered through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) and certified in Radiology.
3. A minimum of one year experience required. Two years of experience preferred.
4. Bilingual: English/Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese depending on location preferred.

Responsibilities

1. Performs radiology exams as requested by physician.
2. Adjusts, maintains, and sterilizes medical diagnostic imaging equipment, as well as ensuring that exam rooms are clean and orderly.
3. Prepares patient for examination by setting up equipment and assisting during exams as needed by the provider.

4. Moves imaging equipment into specified position.
5. Explains procedures to patients to ensure their comfort and cooperation.
6. Ensures proper exposures of patient to radiation for diagnostic imaging procedures through safe operation of equipment.
7. Follows physician’s instructions to obtain optimum views of specified area of body to image.
8. Communicates with radiologist, physician, and other members of health care team to determine whether more images need to be taken.
9. Produces high quality films that are acceptable to physician on duty, as well as Radiologist.
10. Maintains detailed records of procedures, diagnosis, and other medical notes relevant to proper treatment.
11. Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
12. Performs other related duties as assigned.
