Charge Registered Nurse / RN, Labor & Delivery L&D 3A/B, Full Time, Days

BSA Health System is an extensive hospital system providing clinical excellence to the Texas Panhandle and the tri-state area. BSA is acclaimed for its superior quality and customer service.

Labor & Delivery, NICU and Newborn nursery are comprised of 20 LDRP single-room birthing suites, 2 C-section surgical suites, 20 licensed nursery beds, and 20 licensed Level III NICU beds. New parents are supported with childbirth education plus a bilingual lactation nurse. Along with our excellent hospital based mother/baby services, BSA Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) fixed wing transportation team, available 24/7, flies to rural communities to transport babies by airplane from area hospitals to the Level III designated BSA NICU.


Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Shift Supervisor is a Registered Nurse who is accountable for coordination of all care for a specific patient population on an assigned shift, in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and the policies and procedures of BSA. The Shift Supervisor also has managerial responsibilities including, but not limited to, staffing, scheduling, employment development, and budget and performance improvement activities. The Labor & Delivery 3A/B RN, Shift Supervisor supervises the functions on the OB unit to include delivery, recovery and newborn nursery along with supervising of the WC OR suites.


Qualifications

Licenses and Certifications:

Current Texas RN license
CPR certified from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
NRP certification required within 6-months of hire
AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring required within 12-months of hire

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Previous L&D staff nursing experience required; 3+ years preferred
Leadership and management skills in a healthcare environment
Broad knowledge base of the labor process, assisting with the evaluation process, critical thinking and making decisions for patient care
Assess, plan, evaluates, documents the total nursing process
Flexible, organized, self-motivated with exceptional follow-through skills
Computer skills necessary; EMR EPIC documentation
Multi-task constantly and tolerate multiple interruptions
Ability to delegate and give clear instructions to others
Ability to function under stressful situations
Ability to foster a positive teamwork environment
Clear and effective communication with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals
Compassionate customer service skills
Committed to patient, family and visitor satisfaction
