Job description
Responsibilities Include:
- Following instructions on batch sheets and operating instructions
- Weighing quantities of liquid and solid chemicals
- Adds chemicals to reactors, mix tanks, or other equipment
- Monitors reactions. Samples vessel contents and adjusts conditions based on test results Transfers chemicals between vessels. Adjusts valve positions, uses pumps and chemical hoses Operates centrifuges, filters and other separation devices
- Loads dryers and monitors results
- Grinds product and packages for sale
- Recovers solvents by distillation and operates wastewater treatment system
- Trains new operators
- Completes operating records accurately
- Maintains inventory of in-process materials, including incomplete batches and mother liquors
- Inventories manufacturing supplies and notifies supervisor when supplies are needed. Completes other tasks as assigned by management

Compensation: $20.00 - $20.75 and in 90 days it will go to $22.00
Qualifications:
- Education and/or experience– High school diploma or GED. One year of experience as a chemical operator
- Language skills– Read written English instructions such as batch sheets, operating procedures, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), hazard labels, and similar documents. Communicate orally with superior, managers, and other operators
- Mathematical skills– Accurately perform ordinary arithmetic calculations, with or without a hand calculator. Some high school algebra may be required
- Reasoning ability– Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written or oral form. Deal with situations where only limited instruction is possible. Track several batches at the same time
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The position requires substantial physical activity such as standing several hours, walking, and climbing. Respirators must be worn at times and some lifting (up to 75 pounds) is required
- WORK ENVIRONMENT: The plant is not fully enclosed, so some outside work is required. In some processes, the operator works with hot materials. Some work in confined spaces is required. To minimize exposure to hazardous conditions, operators are required to wear safety gear such as hard hats and safety glasses. In some situations, operators are required to wear additional equipment, such as tight-fitting respirator, face shields, gloves, ear plugs, etc.
